go to irs.gov. that's where you go to get a federal tax id number. be sure to file your articles of incorporation with the city and county officials where you live. the state revenue dept should have a website where you can go and file for a state sales tax id number. when in doubt, hit those yellow pages and go to the attorneys section. most times, lawyers will give you consultation (initial) for free. ask them basic questions. i've even posed as a student doing research on starting my own business for a class project. they'll enjoy talking to you and give you a wealth of information. bestof luck on your endeavors! and god bless! There are two agencies in California that are responsible for taxation.
The California Franchise Tax Board and the Board of Equalization. Upon receiving your approved Articles of Organization from the Secretary of State you should have had quarterly tax form enclosed.
You must also register for a Seller's Permit from the Board of Equalization.
