Hi! I have a large 30 lb mirror I would like to hang on my wall. The problem is the wall I can put it on has studs in the wrong places and all I have to work with is drywall. Is there any special screws made for this. I am sure it is common ?
Thanks!
(Studs are at each end of my wall, and mirror has to go in the middle)

Go to Lowes and get plastic EZ Anchors rated for 30 or 50 pounds each. They will work perfect. I hung up a 100lb mirror no problem. No drilling needed either.

How To Hang On Drywall

Go to a hardware store and ask for some plastic screw inserts that you drive into the drywall with a hammer. You then screw in the appropriate size screws. Be sure to tell the clerk how heavy the mirror is that you want to hang.

no real safe way to do this as the drywall itself will probably not hold a 30 lb mirror, there are several ways to accomplish hanging this safely, but either are going to be alot of work or may be more than you like. The safest way would be to cut the drywall and insert a cross board between the studs to which secure the mirror brackets to, or if you dont mind you can attach a minimum finished 1x3 on the outside of the drywall to attach to whcih is your easiest and quickest and safest way good luck

this is gonna be difficult. There are dry wall screws available but your mirror is so heavey, it may still rip the screws out. The only thing I can think of is finding a glue that will adhear the mirror to the wall along with the screws. Only problem is this will be a permanent fix. if you ever want to remove the mirror, the whole wall will have to be redone.

Use expanding or butterfly anchors to hang the mirror in drywall.

Standard stud spacing is 16".

There are inserts you can put in a drilled 3/8' hole and they expand as you turn the screwdriver, fastening them tight to wall, strong enough with two to hold 15-50 pound mirror, with wire.

I would have answered this question exactly like the person above. Exactly right. EZ Anchors will tell you how much each will hold. 30 pounds is not very much weight. They are cheap and extremely easy to use. And, they are easy to patch if you decide to do something else.

I'm guessing your house is not to code, or you'd have studs every 16"; or that the mirror is very thin. Is this true?
