So my brother and mom have been arguing about Pirates of the Caribbean movies. My brother says that Dead Man's
Chest is the 3rd one because there was an old Pirates of the Caribbean and The Curse of the Black Pearl was not a remake of the old verison.. so he claims that Dead Man' Chest is a 3rd Pirates movie. On the other hand my mother says that that Dead Man's Chest can't be the 3rd movie since it's the 2nd one and that the old one is not joined with the new Pirates movies because they are not the same actors, director, etc..
Who do you think is right?

Curse of the Black Pearl is first (Not a remake)
Dead Man's Chest is second
The third movie is now filming for release in 2007 No subtitle yet

Your mom is right. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl is the first one and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is the second. There will be a third one however, and it comes out next year.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
The second one is,
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
And the third one they just released it's title is,
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

The Curse of the Black Pearl is the 1st, Dead Man's Chest is the second. the 3rd will be out next summer. the movies are from the ride in disney land in california.

Dead man's chest is the second one- jerry bruckheimer's pirates of the caribbean is a trilogy starting with the curse of the black pearl, then dead man's chest and another one next summer (or the one after).

For THIS franchise, the Disney franchise, Dead Man's Chest is the 2nd film. Curse of the Black Pearl being the first, and the third film of the franchise is currently in production and yet to be named. So your mom is right. :)

I saw Johhny Depps interview in TIME magazine, They are filming the THIRD installment this summer.So Pirates #3 comes out next summer.
The article says that the Pirates movies are based on the DisneyWorld ride.

Its the second, I love that film i think I would know. I went to see the movie midnight screening last night.
If you see the movie, there is no conlucision. you have to see the thrid movie to get the conclusion. Maybe that's where the confusion comes from.
