I just looked it up and it said that you should start having PAP smears when you are sexually active or by the age of 21-whichever comes first. It didn't say anything about starting to get PAP smears when you start your period for the first time. But, I'd rather pay the money then to be sorry.

Obviously, Your doctor Just wants the money. When your a baby you cant get Pap Smears. You Only get them when you have sex and i dont have to know you but babys dont have sex they dont even know how. I understand your concern though. I think that you should go to a different clinic though if your doctor is telling you that . Cause babys' dont have sex

Doctors are suggesting that women have pap smears earlier because they are being more careful with their patients' health. Also, it can be useful to have a baseline for comparison. It might be interesting for some of you to learn that sex and the papilloma virus (the test is named for the disease it detects) are not always connected.

Doctors often recommend this to check for cervical cancer and other diseases that can be detected early on. And how do you know she's not sexually active, maybe the doctor knows that she is and can't brief patient confidentiality. Whatever the case, it can never hurt. Talk it over with your daughter and see how she feels, if no irregular symptoms arise for her, then she should wait till she's 18 or 21.

Talk to your doctor. Let him know that you have conflicting information and have him explain himself. Doctors are privy to information that might not be public knowledge. However if he can't make a case ... find another doctor.
