The All-Stars are announce and if I had to make a lineup for both teams and my opinion for their apperance in the All-Star game, then this would be it
AL
1) CF Ichiro Suzuki, Seattle - Best leadoff hitter in baseball and majority of votes were from the Japanese fans.
2) SS Derek Jeter , NY Yankees - Most recognizable baseball player in America and putting a solid season in New York.
3) 1B David Ortiz, Boston - Putting another solid season in Boston and finally getting the recognition to start
4) LF Manny Ramirez, Boston - Another big name that people recognized and putting another solid season
5) 3B Alex Rodriguez, NY Yankees - Despite down year, he's still the best 3B in the AL
6) RF Vladimir Guerrero, L.A. Angels of Anaheim - Also having a "down year", but name recognition gets him in Pittsburgh
7) C Ivan Rodriguez, Detroit - Solid season and name recognition get him here
8) 2B Mark Loretta, Boston - Not the leading votegetter, but Cano was placed in the DL, so Loretta was nominated for the starting position
9) P Johan Santana, Minnesota - Clearly the best starter in the AL pitching roster.
AL Reserves
C Joe Mauer, Minnesota - Leads the league in Batting Average
1B Paul Konerko, Chicago White Sox - Top 10 in HR, RBI, Batting average
1B Jim Thome, Chicago White Sox - Leads the AL in HR
2B Robinson Cano, NY Yankees - Leader among AL 2B voting but was placed on DL, so he will not play in his first all-star game.
2B Jose Lopez, Seattle - Lead all 2B in RBI
3B Troy Glaus, Toronto - 5th in AL in Home Runs
SS Miguel Tejada, Baltimore - Only Baltimore player in roster who producing a solid season
SS Michael Young, Texas - Questionable call, but there are others that are more deserving than him.
OF Jermiane Dye, Chicago White Sox - Benefiting from teammates and putting respectable numbers
OF Alex Rios, Toronto - Having a breakout season, but placed on the DL, so he won't particpate in the All-Star game
OF Gary Matthews, Jr., Texas - Breakout year for him and was named an All-Star replacement
OF Grady Sizemore, Cleveland - Putting a five-tool performance once again
OF Vernon Wells, Toronto - Having the best year of his career
Pitchers:
-Mark Buerhle, Chacago White Sox - Respectable numbers, but others are derserving more than him
-Jose Contreras, Chiacgo White Sox - Benefiting from the opposition and the offense
-Roy Halladay, Toronto - Top 10 in Wins, ERA
-Scott Kazmir, Tampa Bay - Top 10 in Wins, Strikeouts
-Mark Redman, Kansas City - Somebody needed to represent this horrible team
-Kenny Rogers, Detroit - One of the "aces" for the Tigers
-Barry Zito, Oakland - Also another team that needs one representitve
-Bobby Jenks, Chicago White Sox - Leads the league in Saves
-Jonathan Papelbon, Boston - One of the best closers in the league
-Mariano Rivera, NY Yankees - Questionable call, as there are that are more deserving than him
-B.J. Ryan, Toronto - Also having a "Papelbon" kind of year
NL
1) SS Jose Reyes, NY Mets- Leads the league in Runs and Stolen Base
2) CF Carlos Beltran, NY Mets - Putting a 5-tool performace that got him here
3) 1B Albert Pujols, St. Louis - Best player in the universe
4) RF Jason Bay, Pittsburgh - Stats and host team got him there
5) LF Alfonso Soriano, Washington - Hasn't lost a step moving into the NL
6) 3B David Wright, NY Mets - Best NL 3B today
7) 2B Chase Utley, Philadelphia - Hasn't dissapoint in his first full season at 2B
8) C Paul LoDuca, NY Mets - name recoginition but his stats is respectable enough for an all-star apperance
9) P Pedro Martinez, NY Mets - Leads NL in Strikeouts and best overall pitcher in the NL
NL Reserves
C Brian McCann, Atlanta - Leads all NL Catchers in Batting Average
1B Lance Berkman, Houston- Only guy producing for his team
1B Ryan Howard, Philadelphia - Leads the league in HR
2B Dan Uggla, Florida - Breakout year in his first opportunity as the starting 2B
3B Miguel Cabrera, Florida - Another solid season for this all-star
3B Freddy Sanchez, Pittsburgh - Top 10 in Batting Average and part of the host team
3B Scott Rolen, St. Louis - Also matching the production of Cabrera in his comeback year
SS Edgar Renteria, Atlanta - Overrated All-Star only got in by name recognition, more SS are desrving than him
OF Andruw Jones, Atlanta- Trying to put a repeat performance of last season
OF Matt Holliday, Colorado - have the best offensive stats for his team
OF Carlos Lee, Milwaukee - Having another all-around season
Pitcher
-Carlos Zambrano, Chicago Cubs - the only reliable pitcher for his team
-Bronson Arroyo, Cincinatti - From Boston trash to Cincinatti "ace", doing it in pitching and batting
-Brad Penny, L.A. Dodgers - the de facto ace of his team, top 10 in ERA
-Tom Glavine, NY Mets - Rebound year, leading the NL in Wins
-Chris Carpenter, St. Louis - Last year all-star starter trying to prove that it's no fluke
-Jason Schmidt, San Francisco - Semi-Rebound year and the only Giant producing
-Brian Fuentes, Colorado - Also trying to prove that Colorado pitchers can actually pitch
-Derrick Turnbow, Milwaukee - Having a repeat performance
-Tom Gordon, Philadelphia - From New York trash to Philadelphia "savior", hasn't lost his touch in closer role
-Trevor Hoffman, San Diego- Best workhorse closer and only member of his team representing
