I thought he died, but I think I just saw him on a Burger King commercial for their stacker sandwiches. Is that him or a look a like? :) Just curious, LOL!

OOps! I'm sorry I meant Fantasy Island. They were on back-to-back on ABC in the 80's. LOL. Wow, the actor they had on this commercial really looks like him! Seriously.

Hervé Jean-Pierre Villechaize (April 23, 1943–September 4, 1993) was a French actor of Filipino ancestry who achieved worldwide recognition for his role as Mr. Roarke's assistant, Tattoo, in the television series Fantasy Island (1978 – 1984).

He was also well known for playing the evil henchman Nick Nack in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun.

Tattoo was from FANTASY ISLAND (and briefly, The Man With The Golden Gun {a really bad Roger Moore Bond film}). Love Boat came on at 9pm, Fantasy Island @10pm -- two of the worst full hour shows ever put on television.

Tattoo was on Fantasy Island. Fantasy Island came on right after the Love Boat on Saturday nights. As far as I remember, he did die.

Yes dear that was a look a like. Tattoo was on Fantasy Island and he did commit suicide. He was that cute little Hawaiian midget. Your assumption that Tattoo was on Love Boat tells me you are a youngster and wasn't born in that era. I was a little kid when that show was on and I am 38 now.

The "real" tattoo (Hervé Villechaize) is dead, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was a look alike.

In the early morning hours of September 4, 1993 his common-law wife (even though she didn't live in the same house) would find his dead dwarf body. It seems Herve had written a suicide note, grabbed his tape recorder and proceeded to his cluttered backyard. He turned on the tape recorder and spoke into the microphone, "Kathy, I can't live like this anymore. I've always been a proud man and always wanted to make you proud of me. You know you made me feel like a giant and that's how I want you to remember me" After a bit more dwarf rambling he said "I'm doing what I have to do...I want everything to go to Kathy...I want everyone to know that I love them."
In a sitting position, Herve leaned back against the sliding glass patio door, placed a pillow against his chest, and fired the pistol into the pillow. The bullet would travel through Herve's chest shattering the glass door, pass through a kitchen cabinet and eventually end up lodged in a wall. The tape recorder caught the sound of Herve cocking the pistol just before the deadly shots rang out. As he lay slumped against the glass door he mumbled, "it hurts, it hurts...Im dieing, I'm dieing."

Kathy immediately rushed Herve to the Medical Center of North Hollywood. At 3:40 in the afternoon, Herve Villechaize was declared deceased by the attending doctors.

I think he was on fantasy island not the love boat.

Do you know what kind of dough nuts he liked?

The plain, the plain!

Did you hear about how he used his money from television to build a special condominium complex for vertically challenged people who didn't have homes because of their small size? He didn't charge them a penny to live there that's why the were called "stay free mini-pads"! Yuk Yuk Yuk :o) :o)

P.S. I think he's gone to meet his maker.
