If you are thinking about putting valuable antique furniture in a typical unheated storage unit, I would not leave it there very long. Extremes in temperature and humidity will cause damage no matter how you try to protect it. Veneered furniture, in particular, is very susceptible to damage.

As far as packing and protecting during moving, make sure you have many many moving quilts and arrange the furniture so that it does not rub.

Put sheets around the pieces and then add moving blankets make sure to bind any moving parts

you can wrap in sheets of foam then wrap it in Saran wrap and store it in between 70 and 75 Fahrenheit . the foam will protect it from dings and scratches and the saran wrap will keep it away from moisture
