I always try to be positive about it, and think that I will eventually be comfortable with it...afterall nobody is born knowing this stuff, yet people have studied it and gone on to be astronauts, engineers, architects, physics professors, etc. So, of course, that makes me feel better. Besides, I need it for my major. It's still an intimidating subject. What do you think about physics?

Thank you sincerely for all those who answered without being sexist and stuck in the 1950s.

As for Matt G...well, let's hope he'll enter the 21st century soon, and gain a more modern perspective of women in science and technology.

Physics is absolutely lovely! Hope you have a good professor who won't ruin that for you. I have loved physics the past three years that I studied it and in college I look forward to learning a lot more of it. My older brother majored in physics and he was the only one at his university to be MAJORING in Physics at the time. It's actually not a hard subject if you're not weak in Math. Solid foundation of basic math is required but other than that it's kinda like common sense. Just don't get intimidated and keep your head above water until you conquer however much that you need to learn for your major.

p.s. If you need any help with it either post it on here or... contact me. I would be glad to help another fellow student out with something I know about

Well ok for me personally (since I'm a Physics (undergraduate) major) I guess the important thing is to realise that Physics is NOT about memorising list upon lists of formulae (even if the particular textbooks you are using seem to make Physics look that way) ... i make it a point not to memorise all of the formulae and equations in my textbooks/lecture notes (which if i try to would really totally drive me bonkers) but try to understand how they come about and try to derive them on the spot when needed though of course some derivations are just so long/messy that you're better off memorising the equations
Anyway the other thing is to practise ... practise with as much stuff as possible ... for one thing, practise builds up your adeptness in the mathematical manipulations needed for solving physics problems .. .

I personally love it. Particle physics are to me the most intriguing. When you understand whats going on, at the smallest level, you can better understand the entire universe. It all boils down to the particles, whether they are force carrying particles or quarks. Whether they have mass or are just pure energy like a photon. I look forward to confirmation next year of the Higgs boson. I predict it WILL be discovered when CERN goes back on line after the upgrades. Keep learning about all aspects of science. The more you learn, the more you will like it and understand it all. Maybe it will be you to find the Graviton. Good luck.

I know what you mean. When I took physics in high school, I had an older brother who was MUCH better at it than me and he made a point of keeping me aware of that fact. I think that's one of the reason's I stayed away from it after that. Just stick with it and I'm sure you'll do fine.

By your picture you are a girl. You have no sense of anything mathamatical. Stay away from Physics or if you do take the class hope that the Professor grades on the curve and there are other girls in the class...especially blond.

Physics is just really applied maths with a bit of observation thrown in, so if you think of it like that you can worry more about your maths and less about your physics.

I hated physics but still did ok. Just study study study! Don't miss tests or homework or anything. Ask about extra credit if available. And it never hurts to suck up just a little. Always say hi to the teacher and ask about his/her day and ask if he/she needs help with anything, etc.

Good luck!!!
