I just moved into an apartment that has been vacant for about three years and the weeds are just terrible. Anyone with some advice to help me take care of the problem?

Weedkiller like roundup or equivalent, this will kill everything but it will not affect the soil for planting.Or,if you are asking about lawn weeds, use a broadleaf weed killer which will not effect the grass.Ask in the garden dept. of Walmart or Sears or a nursery.Follow the directions on the container.good gardening!

Ever heard of Roundup? Good to kill weeds and anything else that is green that you really do not want. For broadleaf weeds that you want to get but leave the grass unharmed, go to a farm store and check out some 2-4-D. Mix as directed and it will kill the weeds and leave the grass alone. Both are very good products that work but it will take a few days to see the results. Roundup will kill grass and weeds so if you get it on anything you do not want to kill, be sure to get it rinsed off immediately or it will be dead too. If you do the 2-4-D, you can put a drop or two of soap in the mix and it will help it to stick to the weeds you spray. Good luck.

Depending on how much space you have to clear and the kinds of weeds you have, I have seen bush hogs work miracles. Or perhaps Yardvaarks.

About 9 years ago when I got married, my husband and I moved to a lot that had an abandoned flower- area, it couldn't really be called a bed. I got out there with a bunch of lawn-sized garbage bags, a digging fork, a shovel, and a small saw and just ripped everything out. It took about 3 days.

Go to Pep Boys (they always have it) or Wal-Mart, even look online for where to buy Ozium - 1 spray is all you'll need. Even if he hot boxes your car with you in it and blows some of the skunkiest, stinkiest smoke ever all over you it'll get the scent gone. I'm not joking, more than one spray and you'll get knocked out from freshness fumes! I've been using it since the 1990's when a bunch of my friends all piled into my moms care with me and we ditched school to go drive around town and hot box the car. 3 bongs got spilled more than once, ash from pipes and joints was everywhere and it smelled like Jamaica!!! Went to a car wash, vaccuumed it out, shot some Ozium into the car and mom was so happy that I got her car to smell so good she let me borrow it more often. On a side note, if he just smells like it it's not going to get on your clothes or in your car, he's smoking it around you. If you really don't smoke and he does then he's gotta learn to respect that. I've been smoking for a lot of years, my girlfriend doesn't so I just don't smoke around her because she's worth more to me than Mary Jane. That's just some food for thought, maybe you just need to tell him you're tired of almost getting in trouble for his habit...

A simple non chemical way is with plastic and some rocks. Just cover whatever you want gone and it creates heat and kills whatever is growing. Once it's all dead, just til the soil and remove the organic matter, hope this helps. Sam
