does anyone know how to configure windows xp for internet sharring without using more than 1 nic card per computer ? I have a hub, but it only wants to run 1 system at a time, if I want to transfer the internet I have to shut down both systems, unplug cable modem, then plug it back in, and turn on the system I want to use the net on, thanks

u must use one system as server
it will be connect to internet
no need mor than one NIC
one as server with for example 192.168.0.1 ip
and enable internet sharing on this computer
now just set server IP as DNS server ip on other clients
in TCP/IP settings
so all computers can be connect to internet throw the server

run the modem in the hub than out to the other computers you probability plug it in backward. I have the same set-up. from the modem run the RJ45 line to the hub Internet than where it have 1,2,3,4 plug the computer RJ45 into the Number slot and if it have a button make sure it's put in up-link and it lights up the leds. same way if you use a router Win98 to Xp are plug 'n' play is all of your computer have a 10/100 card pci slot ? if you use this route make sure you use auto detect setting in the I.E. tools Internet option. in the wizard make sure you put that the computer is directly to the internet (always on)
