The universe has no beginning and no end. Every point in the universe is of equal distance to all others...each point is the middle of the universe. The fact that we can only detect radiation as far out as 15 billion light years, doesn't mean that is the edge of the universe. So yes, the distance is the same on both sides of you.

Hi. It would appear so. The measured distance to the background radiation (microwave) is the same in all directions. This is due to the wierd nature of relativistic effects (distance shrinks and mass increases - don't ask me why - in the direction of travel). But assuming you had a way to measure, the distance would be the same.

The distance is equal since east never meet west and distances in the universe are measured on the basis of infinity.
