Interesting... I have no idea if all you had were the clothes on your back then you would be in tough shape .. No ID? I am assuming you would be here illegaly with no documentation.. And if that was the case then why on earth would even come here alone ? LOL Most come in a group I believe and they probably have some plan of action..
If your hypothetical question left out the fact that this person had identification of some sort.. well then they could go to a shelter, get a job as a waitress, dishwasher, bussing tables etc plenty of jobs in restaurants - they hire all the time !! then you could start down the long road of becoming independant and living the "american dream"

Hmmm...let me think about this. I can't think right off-hand about what a good plan would be. I'm sure a lot of what happened would depend on who I happened to meet and what they were willing to do for me. If I came here without any knowledge of what was here, I might not know about soup kitchens and shelters. I would have to rely on the kindness of strangers. I suppose a church would be a good place to start. I think that would be where I would go to look for help. If I was planning such a trip, I would probably have some sort of idea in mind as to what my first steps would be.

you would never be allowed to stay permanently if you tried to enter legally. there are supposedly financial requirements for immigrants who are not sponsored by someone (family, spouse, employer) but it appears to not always be the case. trying to start a new life in a new country with no money, no job and no family or friends is never a good idea, regardless of what country you go to.

Go to a homeless shelter. Have them hook me up with a job. Work hard. Save. Get me a place work my way up and be on my way. Where there's a will there's a way.

I would find a good church and have them hook me up with the right people. It wouldn't be long before I was on my feet and giving my testimony in that church.
Then we would all feel good for helping each other. They helped me get going and I helped them to feel good about themselves for helping.

I would go to a church and explain my situation and ask for shelter and a chance to work and get started.
