Do you mean a marriage that is over or stay in one that is bad? Otherwise it sure doesn't sound good if you refer to it as something to survive, like cancer.

You have to sacrifice a part of your personal identity. You can no longer be completely who you are, some of it has to be who he wants you to be. That's the only way I've seen marriages work. I can't do it. I'm too in love with myself, lol. The moment they try to change me, I'm thinking of how to break up.
I hope you're lucky and I'm wrong, but every couple married for 30 plus years usually has some very strange reasons for staying married, and how they did it, from "we stayed together for the children" to "we aren't monogamous, but we're both ok with that".

Personally, I think you have to be crazy to be married. Marriage can destroy all semblance of logic in a day! hehe

If your marriage is something to be 'survived' and not lived and enjoyed, then get counseling or get out...

If you speak of surviving, you don`t need to get married or be married!

14 years of marriage. It's a LOT of give and take. Negotiation. AND TALK....TALK about everything. There will be ups and downs....but it is all worth it.

I would also say, our faith has helped us tremendously (this burns the a$$ of my agnostic friends). Withouth our church and faith, we couldn't have done it.
