She can continue to use it until the first time she *tries* (emphasize that--*tries*) to climb out of it, or if she is too big for it--when standing in the crib, if the rail is less than 3/4 of the way to the top of her head. Beyond that, it's your choice.

My daughter is 18 months and still using her crib. Fortunately, her crib turns into a toddler bed. But I know some people have kept their kids in the cribs until 2 1/2 years old. Also, you don't have to buy a toddler bed when she's too big for her crib. Just buy a regular bed that you can put a rail on so she won't roll off the bed. Also, you can also put a mattress on the floor until you're sure she won't roll off the bed when she's too big for her crib.

Kids can be in cribs until they are able to climb out on their own. Once they do that, you should lower the side so they can't fall out, or get a toddler or regular bed. I moved by son out of the crib at 20 months, just because we were having another baby. I don't think there's much of a rush for a 10 month old.

My children and grandchildren all stayed in their cribs until they were able to climb out. Danger! So the side rails came off and the mattress was set to it's lowest position. Instant toddler bed. Unless you have the finances to purchase the toddler bed and just want one cos it's cute, I'd stay with the crib/instant toddler bed until the child is ready for school if their size allows and then get a nice twin bed.

I left all of mine in their cribs until they crawled out on their own. My two older boys transitioned to toddler beds at about 2-2 1/2 years. My youngest is almost 4 and just switched because he was afraid of falling and would never climb out. It was nice. He couldn't sneak out and make a mess. LOL...He is very quiet when he is into something he isn't supposed to be. In the crib, he would have to wake me up (he is a very early riser). Now, I have to set the alarm for when I think he will get up and hope like hell he doesn't beat me to it...lol.

You can use a crib for as long as your child can fit in one. Most children are in cribs anywhere from two to three years. If you do decide to get a toddler bed, you might want to consider babyproofing the room your child sleeps in. Just in case he/she climbs out of bed and roams around.

You should keep her in there untill she is starting to crawl out on her own. If that is now or soon from now and you are still not comfortable wal mart sells crib tents, they are really neat and keep your child in so you don't have to worry about her falling out. If your crib does not transition into a toddler bed, I wouldn't bother buying one, just buy a regular bed and put a rail on it to keep her in.

i used the crib for my daughter until she was about 20 months and then moved her into a toddler bed. When ever you feel your child is ready for a bigger bed thats when its best. Use your mothers intuition.

The best place for them is in a crib until they can climb out of it or almost climb out of it. They do make a net thing you can place over the crib that is safe, but they can't climb out. My son was in a crib until he was 2.
