My husband and I are thinking of using this company to build a home in SW Colorado. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated - we would be working with a contractor to coordinate everything.

You have two issure to consider.
The first is the choice of a supplier for you log home. I would not buy a log home kit from any log home supplier that hasn't been in business for at least ten years. I would do as much research as I could on the company. I would actively pursue all of the referrals provided by the company and I would want to visit at least three homes if possible. Homeowners will be happy to share their experiences with you if you take the initiative to contact them. I would have my attorney review all contracts and warranty documents prior to signing.
The contractor you pick to erect and finish your log home is as important as the log kit itself. I would choose carefully. I would choose a contractor who had as much experience working on log homes as possible. They are much different to construct than conventional housing, and an experienced contractor will be to your benefit. Follow the same steps as in choosing a log kit manufacturer, and don't fail to talk to other homeowners that have used the contractor you are considering. Make sure that all agreements are in writing, review with your attorney, and do as much as you can to investigate the contractors financial stability. If he goes out of business while constructing your house, guess who is left holding the bag? Insist that the contractor provide certificates of insurance (and keep them current during construction) proving general liability, casualty, completed contracts, and workers compensation coverage.
