Is it possible to request assistance from a school in safe sex...

Example if parent knows a kid has a boy/girlfriend even if they think they are not active yet to ask the school to punish ie detention if they are not carrying condoms... ie stop inspection at any time. Bit like making sure a crash helmet is carried or bike impounded.

Therefore training responsiblity... ie better to have and not need then to need and not have when finally ready.

Likewise insisting birth control pills are taken at set times just like say insulin?

You are expecting things to happen so you pre empt the solution.

But tricky to do that if most of the time is in school.

And the couple is making out all the time... Eventually the feelings WILL win. Its not IF its WHEN.

Plus school say kid is there at 11am. On a saturday the sleep in would mean that its best taken regularly at around 11am... you can't be there to see its taken at taht sort of time some why not arrange for a rgualr time all the time...

The injection a poster gave below is also a good idea...

As said this is like any other safety gear...

Which is more important. Safety gear that stops your kids getting killed or life ruined, or the education exspecailly if the two don't interfear...

Whats the point of discipline?

How is getting detention for swearing or say being cheeky or not doing homework more important then stopping life destroying mistakes?

As its a lot harder to study with a kid

The point here is to assume that once they start dating they are going to have sex at some point soon... And will do so with or without the condoms...

Coupled by the fact that they are inexpereinced and not so responsible as still teenagers with more hormones then brian cells...

Its far more important then the odd acemdemic lesson as say... They bunk off a lesson...

Compared to they get pregnant... which of the two will have a more detremental effect on the life?

And how is it any different to the school insisting safety helmets are worn when say absailing?

If you left a kid in somesones hands you would want them to be safe...#

Insisting the contraception is there is case does not make them have sex, or not have sex.

Just like not having a life jacket does not make the boat sink, whilst wearing one does not make it ok...

But if your kid was going to be on a boat would you not want to make sure the lifejackets were on the boat in case needed?

It only takes one mistake to destroy a life with pregnancy... one mistake in a lesson has no effect

In response to Rob and others around them...

No I would not want to go all nanny state etc... But would you be happy if the school did not disciplin over not wearing steel cap boots in 'shop', safety goggles in the workshops and chemistry experiments, would it be nannying to stop kids running around wood work holding chisles, likewise driving around on motorbikes without crash helmets...?

You know one screw up and you are blind or dead stuff...

We are not talking about making sure they eat their brussel sprouts of pathethic stuff like that...

One pregnancy/AIDS thats the end of their life...

THATS SERIOUS.

And yes responsibility for this can be done when at home...

But most of the time is spent in school, hence help from teachers... You can't make anyone fancy someonnenough to make out... But to the idiot who thinks 15 year olds are children... get real... Their bodies are fully functional smaller adults...

The boys **** most likely nightly, the girls

bleed regularly and by then confident about it.

Both are homone bombs... You need to be sat down to watcgh things like American Pie and other teen grose out movies...

All those pretending it aint there...

ITS YOUR FAULT ALL THE KIDS GET PREGNANT NOT THE KIDS AS ITS YOUR JOB TO BE REALISTIC AND RESPONSIBLE...

THE SUGGESTION IS TO MAKE SURE THE PROTECTION IS THERE WHEN NEEDED...

YOU REALLY THINK THOSE IN MID TEENS WHO HAVE BEEN DATING FOR A WHILE AINT MAKING OUT?

WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note extra... accross the board... most girls I have known were sexaully active from a yong age... None of those with open minded progressive thinking hippy parents got pregnant even though they were very active... Many of those were far more independant to...

2006-07-03 08:55:15 · update #6

Old tart Ill disaggree on the basis of...

Kids get sexaully active before they mature fully, and at that time cocky and don't think things through...

Likewise likely to forget...

Ie that pills should be taken say at 10 am... each day 9bearing in mind the firday sunday sleep in.

So would help to see it gets taken on time...

Likewise by the time kids get to mid teens they ARE going to end up having sex most likely... The stats prove it... They dont need encouragement nor can they be encouraged,...

But if someone is dating and snogging and pawing they will be wanting more

Actually I do go on other subjects veritas

If im insulting its as I see the damage people like you do in ruining young lives by keeping young folk ignorant...

I haveing to answer questions from couples along the lines of he pulled out could I be pregnant? Lots of those

We were fooling around could I be pregnant as it spashed there?

Can you get pregnant by fingering?
YES if creamed fingers

Can you get pregnant form blow jobs (thinkfully not)

It was our first time

Examples of why I concentrate on this are... as I can hopefully help people not ruin their lives...

Ie telling them to run to get morning after pills... or pointing out all the lies told and what they needed to know that you didn't tell them...

Hence them getting prgnant and it being your fault...

When are you going to learn tart and veritas that you can't stop teenagers getting sexaul by keeping them in the dark as nature and hormones rule

Im very glad this isnt compulsery. Children who go out with children should be allowed to just be children - to hold hands and think that kissing is naughty.
Making it compulsary to carry condoms makes children think its compulsary that they have sex with their partner.
When I was 15 sex was another world away. And with the young people I look after its just the same.
Talking about it is fine but let them have some privacy, let them know that sex is a private affair and that they only need to talk about it with people they care about, not teachers spot checking them.
You also have to take into account that their are religious families that send their children to public schools. The parents are aware of sex education but would never have their children put in these situations.
Just talking to teenagers about sex, making them know its normal but its serious makes them responsible. We've come along way since the 1900s but there is a line between protection and over protection.

You know what? I only read the first two lines of that!!

Its complete rubbish how we should be expecting others to bail us out all the time. For goodness sake if your parents didn't teach you the meaning of respect for another and to be safe in all aspects what else do u expect?

Parents that do generally care will drum it into their childrens/teenagers heads day in day out and eventually it will stick. What they do past the age of consent(16) in most countries is not down to the parents. Sex education is not enough, i agree but thats not where it should be carried on.
Parents influence should be second to none. So no i do not agree that schools should make sure that their pupils carry protection.

Otherwise surely that would be promoting sex? And unwanted pregnancy to these few non-caring individuals?? Come on i wanna hear from anyone that disagrees with me

I agree with old tart 74. In any case, you are using questions & answers like a chat room forum, I have checked out your profile.
You pose a question, but you have already decided what you think the answer should be. Then, you use the additional information facility to rant and sometimes insult, respondents, whose answers don't meet with your approval. You have personally insulted me on the web, but it was clear that you didn't understand the point I was making. But then your role is to lecture the world isn't it? When are you going to engage in debate about subjects other than sex?

A great idea.

We could follow it up with the school setting bed times, and surprise home visits to ensure it happens.

Undercover spy's seeing what they have for breakfast.

The list is endless.

Then we could evolve it into the state removing children from their parents at birth and teaching them to be robots.

Get a life, people need to be held responsible for their actions and given guidance to make their own choices.

NOT a nanny state controlling them.

It is possible but not advisable. There needs to be some communication and discipline here and as a parent it is your responsibility not the school, you can not pass the buck on this one!

2006-07-03 08:31:50 · answer #6 · answered by Tim T 3 · 0 0

no its the parents responsibilty, the school should cover it all in sex ed but its up to the couple and their parents to ensure they play safe
when i had my first boyfriend after few weeks my dad bought me box of condoms and left them on my bed, at the time it was quite embaressing but i know it was his way of telling me to be careful if i was going to be having sex

plus if you tell them to carry condoms surely it could be seen as pressurising them into having sex in first place? they may not even be thinking of it, some people are sensible and wait til ready and do it safely.

An inspection would go against the Fourth Amendment because it is an unncessary search.

no because thts just getting too involved in someones personal life. someone walks into a detention room and the teacher asks wat they did and they say that they got caught without a condom. that sounds a little ridiculous if u ask me.
