because people are scared, they dont want to believe that things like this could happen. and they are too determined to stay in their way of life.

Just because it's real doesn't mean it's an emergency. The most dire predictions speculate that polar bear and penguin habitat might shrink 40% by 2100, but we can look out for our furry and feathered friends. Many people are skeptical of global warming activists because they use climate change as an excuse to vastly expand the powers of government. Critics of the global warming crowd don't dispute the data, they dispute the conclusions. Did you know that at the same time that much of the earth's ice is melting, the central Antarctic ice cap (which contains 90% of the world's fresh water) is growing? Mother Nature is so vastly bigger than us, that it is hubris to think that we are in charge of the climate.

My view on global warming is that it is real. but it is not caused by us. The planet goes through cycles of warming and cooling. sure we may have helped it heat up a little faster but it was going to get there sooner or later. But remember that the heating of the earth is followed by cooling of the earth when the North Atlantic drift stops in the ocean. This will stop the circulation of the oceans and hence not move the cold water out of the northern region's. this will cause a cooling spell. So the question you should be asking is why are we cooling the planet.

Some people choose not to believe global warming is caused by humans due to studies that indicate otherwise. There is a study conducted that it is warming and cooling of the earth is cyclical in nature. There are also beliefs that the warming today will actually cause a mini ice-age due to changes in ocean currents which actually is a better indicator of climate conditions and global temperature. Have you heard of the El Nino phenomenon? This causes drastic changes in climate conditions in the pacific, and it is cause mainly by a change in the movement of trillions of fish and other organisms.

Hi, andy17mex, my name is Hank. People don't believe global warming is happening because of our Corporatist's propaganda machine here in America.
If you follow the shenanigans of our present Administration, they would have you believe all is well. Most people buy that claptrap because it is pounded down our throats by our Corporatist-dominated government via their medium--the television.
If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself. The Corporatists are vehemently attacking Al Gore's new documentary. If you listen to what they are saying about Gore, you will be able to discern what I'm getting at.
I wish I could better relate to you the complexity of how this corporation propaganda machine works. Alas, the ecological state of our World is not my strong suit. I'm just able to pick up on the asinine nature the machine is feeding Americans because I'm in my fifties.
I've eaten tons of propaganda produced by the powers that be, and am able to sense when my belly is being fed bad food. After all, I'm a combat vet of Vietnam, and at the time I went into the service--I bought everything I was told and sold about the Vietnam War. And, andy17mex, we all know how that fiasco turned out. I hope this helps you.

People believe that the world will continue to change and evolve no matter what we humans do. The world has a history much longer than we can imagine and it appears to have cycles. I have been told that we are currently in a warming cycle and there is nothing that we can do about it. I have been told that no matter what we do the Earth will continue because we are not the cause. I don't believe this myself, but I have been also told that as humans we like to believe that we are smarter and bigger that everything and we like to think that we can solve any problem because we are so arrogant.

To ignore global warming is to ignore the immediate fate of our planet. Global warming is very real. If we do not do something about it very soon we will not be able to stop it. And the blame falls on mankind for burning so many fossil fuels.

Politically what they hear is what is given to them from sources; if the source is garbage, than the old attage; garbage in garbage out is attained.
Some are just bought off by lobbiests, either by money or by votes. There is too much evidence that backs up global warming, we need to do something. I live in TX , the oil state... we don't even have any type of transportation system state wide. Very sad... very sad.

The earth has been going through cooling and warming cycles since it was formed some 4.5 billion years ago. Man's presence here, relative to the earth's age, is roughly ten seconds. Erupting volcanoes, flatulent ruminants, decaying carcasses, sun spots, solar flares, and deep sea eruptions, are responsible for warming and cooling cycles, not man. Our ancient ancestors also believed that displeasing the Gods was responsible for climate changes, which makes about as much sense. The only difference is that we are sacrificing tax dollars instead of virgins.

we are waiting for "all of the science" according to Bush. By that time the world will be gone we need new leadership throughout the world that will see the evidence an do everything to put an end to global warming. It also would help to get leadership not tied to the oil industry.

Because it's easier to deny a problem and do nothing, than to have to change everything. Plus in the US people are feeling exremely powerless. I feel that way sometimes, and it's scary. It doesn't matter what I want, politicians and rich people do it their way and forget about us people at the bottom.
