Is it possible to request assistance from a school in safe sex...

Example if parent knows a kid has a boy/girlfriend even if they think they are not active yet to ask the school to punish ie detention if they are not carrying condoms... in stop inspection at any time.

Therefore training responsiblity... ie better to have nad not need then to need and not have when finally ready.

Likewise insisting birth control pills are taken at set times just like say insulin?

The point here is to assume that once they start dating they are going to have sex at some point soon... And will do so with or without the condoms...

Coupled by the fact that they are inexpereinced and not so responsible as still teenagers with more hormones then brian cells...

Its far more important then the odd acemdemic lesson as say... They bunk off a lesson...

Compared to they get pregnant... which of the two will have a more detremental effect on the life?

And how is it any different to the school insisting safety helmets are worn when say absailing?

If you left a kid in somesones hands you would want them to be safe...#

Insisting the contraception is there is case does not make them have sex, or not have sex.

Just like not having a life jacket does not make the boat sink, whilst wearing one does not make it ok...

But if your kid was going to be on a boat would you not want to make sure the lifejackets were on the boat in case needed? Pre emptive

You are expecting things to happen so you pre empt the solution.

But tricky to do that if most of the time is in school.

And the couple is making out all the time... Eventually the feelings WILL win. Its not IF its WHEN.

Plus school say kid is there at 11am. On a saturday the sleep in would mean that its best taken regularly at around 11am... you can't be there to see its taken at taht sort of time some why not arrange for a rgualr time all the time...

The injection a poster gave below is also a good idea...

As said this is like any other safety gear...

Which is more important. Safety gear that stops your kids getting killed or life ruined, or the education exspecailly if the two don't interfear...

Whats the point of discipline?

How is getting detention for swearing or say being cheeky or not doing homework more important then stopping life destroying mistakes?

As its a lot harder to study with a kid

It only takes one mistake to destroy a life with pregnancy... one mistake in a lesson has no effect

Kev and others... Carrying the condoms does not mean you are forcing their use or saying they can't date so how does that effect their rights... its no different from telling them to wear a seat belt.

its just saying make sure you are carrying just in case...

the pill thing is just to make sure its taken on time and not forgotton by easily forget full kids... Nothing more...

End result no life ruining pregnancies... disadvatages... er none

What would happen if it was vital medicine along the lines of insulin... or better still...

How about a peanut allergy epipen? would it not make sense to make sure the kid had one at all times or for it to be near?

KEV would you say its good for the school to insist the kids carry lifejackeets if doing waterspots on open water (thats like 100m+ to shore in deep water)

Whats the difference between that and a couple who are playing kissy face a lot and progressing carrying the condoms so they are there when needed...

As opposed to passionn takes over they need to do it, no condoms ... 'oh sod it we will be ok first time etc'

9 months later....no more life

I had a similar situation a few years ago, I fostered a14 year old, who told me in no uncertain terms that she was gong to get pregant.Obviously, my first line was telling her that she should keep herself for somwone whom she complety loved and respected but it fell on deaf ears (think I missed) ,so I spoke to the school(in UK)and they said that they could do nothing, so I then took her to familypanning and they gave her 3 month pill injection

A school can not force birth control on its students, but school nurses should assist in their provission upon request by providing information on suppliers and by informing students in need of birth control the various pills and devices used for birth control and the possible positive and negative affect of using same.

Sexual education courses are available on most high school campuses, and making these courses "required" should, in my opinion, be mandated in all public high school campuses.

It's all about giving kids choices. We can't legislate morality or wisdom, but maybe we can prevent a few unwanted pregnancies and a few deaths due to STD's.

No, if its your kid who's sleeping with their boy/girlfriend its their (you childs) responsibilty to take precautions.

A school is there to educate your child...you are supposed to teach them social & moral.

If schools were to start ensuring they caaried condoms/supervised pill-taking/stop-searches it would be against your childs human rights & also divert the staffs attention from doing what they're paid...to teach.

They would also have to treat all pupils the same...would you like to spend all day making sure some 16-yr olds are having safe sex & penalising them for not carrying contraception instead of doing your job

Birth Control is not like insulin...its an option.

I strongly suggest you talk to your child yourself.

No, it is intrusive for your school to search your child to make sure they carry contraception. Plus what makes me wonder about your question is what can't the pill be taken at home?
You don't 'train' responsibility and self worth into your child. You foster it, you encourage it, you reward it when you see it but most of all you lead by example.

I think you're out of your frigging mind!

Providing contraception at school without parents knowledge and or permission should be against the law as far as I am concerned. To do so is to sanction them to have sex and it should NOT be left up to school administrators...
