For the longest time, I had a HUGE problem with ants during the spring and summer. This year, my husband got a can of foaming sealant. I used it to caulk around the pipes in the kitchen that I could reach. However, that didn't include behind the stove.
For that, I put coffee grounds behind and around the stove wherever I could get them to go. My kitchen this year has not been Ant Hill Central.

If its grease ants that you're talking about, clean out your pantry very well and any place that may have food residue (floor around the stove, counter tops, stove top, floors of pantry, etc). Check around to be sure that you don't have any openings around that allows them to get into the house.
It's also been suggested to me by an exterinator friend to bury a pound of sugar in your backyard at the very farthest point from your home (a back corner at the property line). He claims that he's done this and doesn't have ants - I guess it's a natural food source for them. I haven't tried it yet, but I don't have an ant problem.
Good luck.

The "natural" remedy is to swat at them for years. That is very natural.
The un-natural remedy is to buy the little bottle of sweet-ant bait poison and put a drop or two on a piece of cardboard near where the ants are seen. They will usually be all gone in a few days.

Spray the ants and their 'transport line' with vinegar, lime juice or an 'organic cleaner made from these products, I recomend vinegar, it drowns and kills the ants, and additionally cunfuses their antennae so the line is often broken until a scout finds another source.

One way to get rid of them is to keep them from coming in. Caulk around all the possible cracks and crevices. If they can't find an opening, they can't come in.

Most effective and very natural is bicarbonate of soda. Wonderful how it makes them disappear altogether.
