This is one of those "which car is better" or "which suit will look best on me" questions.
What are you going to do with the prcessor?
Internet and Microsoft Word: Any processor above 1.2GHz.
Gaming: Normal 2.0GHz, Intense (FEAR, Half-Life 2, Doom 3) 2.5GHz
Digital Media (ie PhotoShop, Video editing) 1.5+ (depending on patience, oftnenss of use and size of photographs.)
In addition the Laptop (or Mobile) processors have special features that increase or reduce the processor speed in accordance to the best ratio of processor demand of the programs running and power efficacy, depending on whether it is plugged in or not. 1.6GHz is the maximum speed not the constant running speed. If you use low processor usage apps, then even the fastest processor will do little good.
For the 'average' computer user this should be fine.

NO! Sempron is bad, and 1.60GHz is really slow. Try to get at least 2.1GHz for a laptop or 3.0GHz for a Desktop
Ew do not get centrino, they are the worst quality processors on the market, get a Pentium ...at least

sempron is a consumer processor, cheap. get a mobile processor, centrino. due more research befor buying. you'll be glad you did.I'd go duel core in todays market, vista will be out soon and you'll get better resale. do not but pentium, they run to hot for a laptop.

If you're simply doing word processing and whatnot than it'll be fine, if you need to do high-end graphics, gaming, 3d rendering, etc on the go then go with either the Centrino (Intel) or Turion (AMD) platforms.
