If they get some veterans probably. They need a better team around kobe and he'll pass like he did to shaq. look how far they got last season for such a young team.

I've been a Lakers fan since '79...and have seen some of the greatest players in NBA history don the "Purple and Gold". The Lakers are one of the all time great sports teams...and great sports organizations always find a way to win (note: Dallas Cowboys, Steelers, Yankees, to name a few). I recall with fondness the great Lakers teams of the '80s and how every year it seemed they were either champions or contending for a title and with equal disappointment, the post-Magic Lakers during their rebuilding phase. It is difficult to predict who will win a championship, and talent alone does not guarantee ultimate success (2004 Lakers, 2006 Pistons). Prior to the Shaq-Kobe reign, my guess would have been that Lakers would not win another championship in 10-15 years. But as I aforementioned, great teams always find a way to win. The Lakers were able to acquire two superstar caliber players in Shaq and Kobe and surround them with enough quality role players to win 3 titles. In its current configuration, I don't necessary think that the Lakers is a championship team. I think they are too inexperienced, although this year's playoffs will prove a major stepping stone toward future success, and are one or two other quality players away from being a contender. Most notably: interior defender and consistant perimeter shooter. I do believe, however, that this current Lakers team has the nucleus in place to become a very good team. Kobe Bryant is arguably the best player in the NBA, and Lamar Odom is more than capable of providing the Lakers with legitimate second option to Kobe, as this year's Phoenix series proved. Based on their history, I do believe the Lakers will win another championship. The irony in all this is that it may take another 10-15 years.

They have a very young and impressive team around Kobe, but they need to get some experience and develop. The Lakers need to sign a big time free agent to be a legitimate contender for the championship. With the current team they have right now, I would consider it a long shot for them to even make it to the Finals...with teams like Dallas, Phoenix, and San Antonio in the West, the Lakers have a very long road ahead of them to be at that level or above.

Yes the Lakers will win another championship! But it won't happen with Kobe Bryant on the roster. It's a team game and if your "best" player can't play the team game you are S.O.L.!

If Kobe stays healthy they will be contenders again because LA is a great city to play in which is why most players want to go play there. If they can swing getting KG or Wallace in this off season they will be contenders again. They really need to get Wallace that would really change things for that team. Trading odom for someone who compliments Bryant better wouldn't hurt either.

Not with the team as presently constituted. If this current squad makes a big run into the playoffs, some big time, talented, ring seeking free-agent will flock to them to join in on the chase. Otherwise, it will be hard for them to win a ring.

They will. They are the Lakers. It's just in their nature. They had stars before Kobe and Shaq and they'll have stars after them. All you Kobe haters remember he's only 27.
