Why are some people on yahoo so mean?

like when you ask a serious question. they either make fun of you or they just talk crap. i'm sorry if this may seem like a pointless question but i just wanna know who else think some people on here are too mean while answering others questions? we all don't even know eachother. so does that give them the right to be rude? i don't think it should. But its never gonna change. its just the way life works sometimes. i just wish some people could be more polite. Don't you? All though i don't care what anyone thinks of me or says about me but it would still be nice.....

The reason so many people come across as "mean" is that they can. This is the one place where you're guarantied an audience and no one knows anyone else. You can just say what you think and no one's is going to be hurt by it. This site seems to bring out the worst in people, personally, I like it that way. I can ask "what do you think of my taste in music" and people are going to tell me what they actually think and not something that will make me feel good.
I think that people are actually as mean as they seem on this site, just in normal social situations they make an effort to be nicer so no one gets hurt.

So, to bring all that ranting down into one little sentence, what I'm trying to say is that people are more likely to state their actual opinions here than they are in real life and less likely to care what people think.

By the way, no one should be dumb enough to be hurt by something some random Internet stranger says.

this has been asked many times before
but not everyone is ,
and if you ask reasonable questions and use the check spelling .
and not be rude or idiotic
you will not be open to much meanness
a lot of the time the meanness comes because of the question

when you ask something
it says--- if there are similar questions
so check them instead of asking the same thing again

write in understandable language

don't ask something too stupid,
thousands of people ask if we think if their friend likes them --for example ,this invites meanness

just be reasonable
and i don't think that you will get mean replies
you must understand that some people are going through hundreds of questions
this makes one a little short of patience sometime.

but granted there are a lot of people who go through the motions of answering ,but are answering nothing ,just to pick up two points

this is the real world,with the Good ,Bad and the Uggly

you will have to come to terms with that
but the good replies and the good connections you make ,will make up for that surely

Well, I sometimes give funny answers and some of my Best Answers have been humorous. What's wrong with a little laughter and humor?

Laughter is the best medicine. Also, watch Hollywood Squares.

Humorous answers to some questions can be very inappropriate. Good judgement comes into play there.

Sometimes I read a question and the first thing that comes to mind is a smart*** answer. LOL! Sorry, but it's true.

People can be TOO serious and need to lighten up.

Some people are just plain mean here and on the Internet in general because they have no fear of being punched in the mouth. No fist is gonna come out of their monitor and connect with their face.

If someone is mean it is a very good sign of what that person is REALLY like: a mean, nasty person.

Ignore them. They are stupid, anyway.

If you ask a question on the Internet, there are millions and millions of people who are going to see it. Do you expect EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM to be serious?

People are not clones. You're going to get smart answers, dumb answers, idiotic answers, mean answers, humorous answers, ridiculous answers.......accept it.

You're right. Don't pay any attention to the rude people or the ones that make fun of everything. Just blow 'em off. There are plenty of nice people on here like you and me. So don't give the others a second thought.:)....... Okay, in response to Shinobi; I am American and I'm never mean to people so you need to clarify that SOME Americans can be snotty.

a lot of people are rude on the net for three reasons
1. they are short fused
2. kids messing around on the computer and do not care about answers
3. and the last and the most likly cause they know that they can say just about anything they can tpe on the internet to a person and not have to face them could you see a little midget telling a 7 foot heavy guy face to face I'll kill you? now if it was the internet and they never met would it happen if the situation was heated? I think so

I think the people who answer questions with rude and ignorant answers either don't know what they are responding to or didn't really read the question to begin with. I've read some responses to some questions and think "did they read the same question?" I also like to take the time to think about my answer and try to be as helpful as possible. If the response warrants an amusing quip I try not to make it insulting, but go along with the spirit of the question.

Some people are mean is because some people ask the stupid questions. They should think of what people would say to there answer before asking there question. If they dont want people to be mean than dont ask it because some people will be mean to you. Some people also are rude because of being raise that way.

Because some people have nothing better to do or that's just how they really feel about the question they are answering. Everyone has their own opinions and you're not always gonna like them but just learn to deal with just the same that you want people to respect your opnions.♥

I totally agree with you. i think it is rude that they give you a stupid answer to a serious question. like with one of my question i did which you answered , a guy said the dumbest and rudest answer to my question. they give you a answer that doesn't go with the question. if the answer doesn't go with the question, then don't bother to answer the question.... i don't care if they think i am mean or anything but i am telling the truth and sometimes telling the truth can be mean sometimes. i just think it would be nice if someone answered the question politly than rudely. it can sometimes get annoying if people arre always answring your questions stupidly. and rude.

Yeah i understand your point, I feel the same sometimes and I try to give serious answers if i think i can help. I think ppl are just bored on here and like are just burning time so they try be funny when actually they are not
