how old before a girl gets her first cell phone?

Right now i am 11 years old going on 12.My school is going to be 8 miles away.everybody already already has a cell phone at this age.I get mostly a's in school. Should i be old enough to get one?

Girl, yes, you should defanitly get a cell phone. Because you diserve it if you have good grades in school and well sometimes you have to wait if your family can't afford one but you could always get a pre-paid cell phone.

If I had a daughter and she was a responsible person, then I would get her a cell phone right before high school. If not, then I'll hold off on that until I feel that she's responsible enough to have a phone without going over the bill.

How did we ever get along without cell phones? You're in school most of the day - why do you need a cell phone? Your school's office has a phone that students should be able to use for emergencies. How many emergencies would you say you have had over the year whereby a 'cell phone' was absolutely and completely needful? My opinion - you should get a cell phone when you are grown and working and able to pay for it. When ever your parent feels that you can have a cell phone, if they dont want to get you a normal cell phone they can get you a pre paid for emergancys, or there are other phones that have pre set numbers ( a few freiends and the house or parents cell) But at the age of 12...theres no need. Your not old enough to have that much privacy and privledge.

Yes you should have a cell phone by at least age 12! It's especially good to keep you safe if you go somewhere with your friends and your parents aren't with you and need to let your parents know you arrived safe and they can check up on you or if you need to call someone in an emergency. I would suggest telling your parents it would be a good idea especially to keep you safe and suggest maybe if they don't want you to have one maybe ask if they will just let you start out with a basic non smart phone till you get older.

I think you are way to young to be getting a cell phone! I got mine at the age of 14. Though, as the time increases of how long they have been around everyone of every age seems to be purchasing one. The are very expensive though with the bill and everything so if your parents trust you and know you will not lose it, it is good. Also you should probably have a purpose for needing one. I got one so I could call my parents to tell them I needed to be picked up after tennis practice. So if your's is just for fun, or just to have one that is not a very good reason. Now they seems to have these phones called Firefly phones for the young'ins and they are a lot less expensive and safer for kids your age. So talk to your parents about one of them perhaps? If you desparatly think you need one.

That is up to your parents. Sit down and talk to them about why you feel that you should have a cell phone. Also tell them that you will be responsible with it and do more chores around the house to pay for it. They aren't cheap. I was 16 when I got my first cell phone and that was the same day I got my drivers licence. Though my sister was 14 and got one then too. If you are able to control yourself and don't charge up a huge bill for your parents then it is good for you to have one to help stay in contact with them.
