i swim a lot. I mean, swimming, diving, every single day, for more than 4 hours. I swim in a pool, or lake, with my eyes open underwater. Will this affect my vision? I already need glasses, have for more than a year. Are the cleaners and such in pools bad for my eyes or ears? That and i'm looking for more stuff to do off the high dive.

Yes it will affect your vision!!

your eyes were not meant to go underwater, do you notice how they get red? yea.. thats when they are telling you .. we dont like it

water has many impurities that our eyes are not built to clean as fast, on top of the temperature and humidity controls that our eyes dont have to adjust underwater

If you really swim for 4 hours everyday, I recommend you using goggles or not opening your eyes in the water too much

The chemicals may irritate, but will not hurt your long-term vision. Goggles are a good alternative if the chemicals hurt your eyes. (Note: have you ever seen an Olympic caliber athlete NOT wear goggles) -- that is for better sight underwater, not protection necessarily.

the best solution is to wear goggles. I you wear contact lenses than the goggles will not only protect your eyes but will also prevent loosing your lenses. Goggles and lenses is the best combination for a good vision and no irritation.
