One rule to live by is to never believe a politician. One thing that is obvious is that Gore is making this an issue for a hopeful run for the White House. All good salesman or in this case politicians try to sell you a product. First they establish a great indispensable need for a product to take care of the problem the salesman or politician has with great care portrayed. After the buyer is convinced of the problem, then the salesman moves in with the product as the answer to that problem. In this case Gore paints a dire picture of doom. Then he supplies the answer, which is himself. That is how it works. Now Hillary, not to be overshadowed, made a speech that copied everything Gore said.
These people have no shame. Now don't think this is only on the Democratic side. If you want to get an earful and an eyeful, pay close attention to the machinations of Karl Rove. He is a master salesman who works behind the scenes but has great clout in Washington. By the way, on the Democratic side, Hillary is their number one candidate, but they know she can't be elected. They are looking for someone who can be elected. It will have to be someone with charisma and a glib tongue. 8 years of Bush, and if the Demos can't field a worthy candidate during this coming slam dunk that is theirs for the taking, then the Democratic Party is in real, real sad shape.

Well the movie is a fact. It does exist. As to what it reports, those are facts generated by men much more educated than you or I. They have been accredited and certified as experts in their respective fields of study and research. They are the same type of scientist that tell you a computer will go faster if you increase the clock speed or that eating 500 calories gives you more energy BTU than if you eat 200 calories. It is a matter of trust. If you are an educated climatologist with decades of field research in your credit, then maybe you can provide your educated research conclusions. If you are not then you will just have to trust those who gave their facts to Al Gore to use in the film. The last thing he would do is use unproven facts that others could point to as fiction. If you still do not believe they are true facts then you must not be one of the educated and prefer to stick your head in the sand and hope everything is not true. The same for anyone with no better comments than, "Because they're idiots" or "Because they're lemmings." Best of luck in your new reality. I don't like mine, but it is reality.

What makes you think it isn't factual, or at least largely based on facts. All you have to do is look at the data to see we are in a major warming trend here on Earth. Whether or not human activity is directly responsible for that trend is a matter of some debate but If we don't start fixing the problem now, right now, what do you think life will be like in fifty years? We'll all be like mole-people sleeping during the day in our burrows and only coming out at night to hunt and gather. Does that sound like the future you envisioned?

It is presented in a very forthright and scientific manner. The issues covered are presented with the accumulated research based on current theories. While these are not facts per se, they are very well studied and researched. The problem is that politics colors these issues so instead of evaluating them as scientific principles, people view them as matters of debate based upon political principle. Science and politics make lousy companions, but the issues involved due bear study.
Based on how you phrased your question, I am thinking you do not believe that anything presented in the film is based upon fact. I urge you to reconsider as this movie does have merits outside its political pontification. This is not "Fahrenheit 9/11" all over, but a fairly good rendition of current scientific thought, laced with only a small amount of liberal bias.

the question should be: why do people actually doubt what al gore says is fact. as he states in the movie, there is overwhelming concensus from the scientific community about global warming. so maybe it is just proof of exactly what the movie tries to tell us: that it is truth, but it is INCONVENIENT truth that makes people want to resist it? i'm just guessing, but i know one thing for sure: there is no scientifica basis for the nay-sayers -- their scientific references consist of "plants" from the oil industry and idiots on the right who think anything al gore says is bullsh*t. can you say "bias"? oh sure...

how many scientists acknowledging that the facts in gore's movie are correct do you need to hear from before you accept the science as being true?
if you do not wish to hear, then the truth alone cannot make you listen. just pray that you are not around when someone says, "i told you so."

I didn't see it, but if you don't believe in Global Warming then you and anyone who doesn't is an idiot.
Can't you feel it yourself? Haven't you noticed and changes in the weather? Don't you know in the last 10 years it's been the hottest in recorded history?
Movie or not, global warming is real, it's not just a gimmick or a political manuever. Open your eyes people, and see what's happening to your home.

Because many people understand how the scientific method works and they know how to read the clues the world gives us.
Others, like conservatives, simply believe what they are told by their self-appointed leaders without reflection, reason or judgment.
Here, see some of the science for yourself!

Maybe because every major environmental scientist in the world verified it as truth. Just a thought. LOL
I'm wondering why so many jump to say it is false when they probably haven't even seen the movie.
