The best way to apply concealer is to put a light or medium layer on the area you want concealed. Don't rub it or blot it, but allow it to halfway dry and firm up for a few minutes. THEN, take a makeup sponge--ever-so-slightly moistened if need be--and smudge the concealer, evening it up with your skin. Letting it dry/harden like this for a few minutes increases its covering power and its staying power. ... As for dark skin tone, it totally depends on what your skin tone is and what brand of makeup you're using. Shades like "mocha," "cappuccino," and "chocolate," for example, are best for African American skin. Go to a makeup counter so you can test different shades on your skin before purchasing one. And if you like a shade from a makeup company that's too expensive for you, just find a similar shade in the brand you prefer.

it works best if u apply to area and let dry a few seconds then use your ring finger to tap the spot. your body heat will melt the conceler for best blending. make sure to tap very lightly and not to rub. set w a looses powder, then use a spray bottle with cold water to sprizt all over your face (hold about 10 inches away) this is an amazing trick that helps create a very natural, dewy look. if you have oily skin mix half cold water with a toner and spray. it dry skin put a few drops of your face moisturizer mixed with cold water and spray. you can keep it in your purse and spritz thru out the day and it will refresh your skin and makeup. just go into the bathroom to do and let dry naturally.

You need a concealer that's a bit lighter than your skin, because you're using it to cover things that are darker. Use a finger tip to apply and blend carefully, especially under the eyes. I think it's better to leave a bit of dark shadow showing then get a light coloured ring with a hard edge under your eye, that looks unnatural. I use moisturizer to help blend it in.
