No, I don't feel that black people are discriminated against just in America. However, I do think that no matter where you live there will be discrimination - whether you are black, white, asian, mexican, etc. There are always people out there who think they are better and want to discriminate against someone who doesn't look like them.

Blacks are disrespected in America because we tend to be all lumped together as one when clearly, we are not all the same. Race discrimination for me it that. Race discrimination is when generalizations are made about a race that prevents others from looking at a person for their individual characteristics.
Every race in America experiences some form of discrimination by another race.

I think that African Americans are disrespected but black people are not. I think that it is hard for everyone to get over the long history of slavery and segregration. It didn't end that long ago. If I were African American, I know I would be bitter. Many African Americans I know feel discriminated against and disrespected but many of the black Africans I know see America as the Land of Opportunity and feel that they are treated well here. I think a lot depends on the social conditioning that people receive when they are young and impressionable.

It's not only in America... It's everywhere, racism is a world wide issue, and besides it's not only white people who are racists, a lot of black people are racists too, I once had this black guy accusing me of being racist whilst standing at a bus stop, for no reason what so ever...
Whenever I told him to shut up, he called me worse things, then whenever I said "Listen, if anyone here is racist it's you, my aunt is married to a wonderful guy from Iran, and they have 2 children, now having their 3rd, who I love very deeply, I have nothing against the colour of your skin, and you are trying to make an issue out of nothing. I have nothing against you, but you have something against me if you think that I am a racist, I haven't spoke to you or anyone else at this bus stop, and because you are the only coloured person here, doesn't mean that we are all racist, okay yes a lot of people are racist, but I am not one of them, and if you think everyone here is a racist, then maybe you should go back to your own country"
He then asked me why I didn't give any money to his mother who was selling the big issue magazine, but I gave money to another bum on the same street.
So I told him, well I always give money to that guy (which I did) I've sat down and had conversations with him, I know about his family and everything that went wrong in his life, we chat every week, and usually I bring him sandwiches if I'm working and if I'm not I give him some money. It's got nothing to do with the colour of you're skin, and besides, whenever I sat there talking to him a few days ago, a policeman came up to both of us, and told us how you where getting double the money of the dole, what people from this country actually get. And why should I give money to someone who get's into a BMW whenever I can barely afford my bus home, never mind a car.
He walked away red-faced and rarely anyone gives that woman money now... funny how things work isn't it...
I'm from Northern Ireland, and whenever I went to live in England for 6 months I was discriminated against, A bouncer wouldn't let me into the pub, even though I was 20 (18 legal drinking age here) and showed him ID, he said it wasn't "proper ID" (Because it was Irish). 30 years ago in England landlords had signs on their doors saying "No Dogs, No Blacks and No Irish" Black people have been discriminated threwout history, and so have the Irish people. The Jewish were discrimated against by the Nazi's. Everywhere in the world people will encounter discrimination, and this is mainly due to fear, because differences in religion and culture isn't taught in schools, and if it was, there would be less fear, and therefore less discrimination.

I think non-white races tend to be a bit thin skinned and see disrespect assuming it's based on skin color. Respect is something that is earned, not guaranteed by the ACLU. If I disrespect you it is because of something YOU did, not your race. At the same time many whites are so afraid of being 'politically incorrect' they go way overboard. A screaming example is affirmative action. If I were a minority and the government told my employer he had to hire me simply because of my skin color and not my skill or qualifications, I would be insulted! We already have anti-discrimination laws on the books. My question for you is, what race immediately popped into your mind when you wrote your question? Color is only skin deep, but bigotry runs straight to the bone.

I think it is a bad rap that some people pin on black people
we are all the same when it comes down to it just the package is a little different but I don't care and I guess both sides have a tiff about the other color till they really get or even try to get to know them and then they find out that their just like everyone in the world
as she said too I agree:
i believe that all people at one point in their lives are disrespected. it doesn't matter what color you are. there are a lot of ignorant people in this world.

No I don't think they are disrespected. If they feel that way it is because they themselves bring upon themselves with the 'race card'. For so long during and after the civil rights movement schools taught children to treat everyone the same whether they were racially different or physically different. "We are all the same(humans) though we may look different. But all too often, blacks want to be viewed as different or it seems so in their actions and behaviors.

I wish you didn't say "black people". but you did, so ok; I think whether you're pink, green, yellow, black, white or polka dot, that you are disrespected if you're disrespectful; If you have self esteem and a good "sense" of who you are, then that commands respect; if someone has a little "pity party" for themselves, well, hey, you get what you deserve; why does it always have to be about race; it should be who you are, how you were raised and if you were raised like crap, then get help and move on up....

No, I think some of them still like to think they are, like us white folks owe them something. Don't get me wrong, I have very good friends that are black, I do not believe that color makes or breaks a person. I believe it is how they look at themselves. I am tired of listening about minorities, wake up people, whites are the minorities now, Try to get a job without putting down that you are black or indian. You always have a better chance if you speak spanish.

upbringing by parents. enviroments you live in. 90 percent of the populations in jails are black. most of the dealers are black. i have some that are good friends and even they blame it on the fact the parents bring them up to hate. they blame their misfortunes on everything from slavery to the government. most of the slaves brough over were sold by their own people for the money. research has shown only less than 1500 were actually brought over by the spanish.

I don't respect gangsta rappers and any other blacks who are a discredit to their race. Just watch "Top Cops" and other police shows to see what I mean. I do respect positive role models. Colon Powell as a example.
