What do you think is the origin of that name and what does it mean?

Yes, I heard the name for the first time in "Brokeback mountain" and I liked it.

yes ennis means lovely .it is a name for a boy. my sister in law has a boy have this name.

My dad has a friend named Ennis. He's in his 50s and lives in Virginia, so I imagine it's an old southern name. It's OK. I think the deputy in Dukes of Hazzard was named Ennis.

There is a small town about 35 miles south of Dallas named Ennis.

I love and respect Bill Cosby!!!

..but, I would plead you to think about the possibilities.

One of the only words that rhyme with Ennis starts with a "P."

That was the first thing I thought of and I'm sure I wouldn't be the last.

I think is different. I know alot of people with Ennis as the last name. It's your kid.

I had a great uncle Ennis, my grandmother was Margaret Enni and my mom was almost named Enni Lous (thank God she wasn't)...Can't say I really like the name...I also have a cousin named Eucharist and we call him Mush.

Back in the early 80's the deputy of Hazard County was named Ennis.... Remeber from Dukes of Hazard... He was Rosco's back up that had a crush on Daisy...

I Love Ennis! My mother has a friend who used to babysit my Brother and I. He spells his Enis.

I remember that was the name of Bill Cosby's only son who was killed a few years ago in a freeway shooting in the Los Angeles Area.
He was a great guy-- so its a good name to consider.
