Well there are two things to consider, according to the USA, CRT monitors cause no ill effects, BUT according to Sweden who extensively tested them , they do, so much so that they mandated that all monitors produced or sold in their country have adequate shielding and coating to prevent harmful X-rays and Magnetic fields from leaving the device, Magnetic fields can disrupt sleep cycles, x rays can cause many problems the greatest of which is burning of the retina and cataract, incidently both of these things are common in America, people experience early vision problems, especially those that work with CRT's a lot. But remember, your government has spoken,.,,,they wont harm you with normal use. Till you look up in their definiton what they term 'normal daily use', in the study done in 1999 which the govt. is using it is defined as ONE HOUR A DAY, lol, which of us ever uses the computer for just one hour these days?, Using it for longer however they specify that there could be overexposure to radiation, but they dont say which one!!!

So...the point of this discussion, dont believe the US Govt, and get a LCD, it produces no radiation what-so-ever and no magnetic field, all it produces is a little heat.

no, you will feel no different other then that cool sensation when you get a crisp clean new monitor. CRT monitors normally out last lcd monitors by a long shot. I work in a hospital filled with computers. As long as you don't modify the CRT, open it up and mess with the stuff inside, don't sit 3 inches from the screen....you should be ok. Sweden does thousands of wacky experiments ....but did you look up exactly what they did to get to those conclusions, nope, you just blindly trust that if some guy in a white coat does an experiment and gets outrageous results, that he's right. lol,
