I assume you mean is *not* filling her up? Then *feed her more*!!
A baby--no matter how big, no matter how mature, no matter how hungry--is *not* ready for solids before 6 months old.
Every health organization worldwide, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, Health Canada, and the World Health Organization, has said no solids until 6 months old. Not only can baby *not* digest it, it can irreparably harm her. If it works *at all* to "space out her feeding" (also *not* a good idea), the reason is that it sits in her stomach undigested for long periods of time. And it exposes her to increased risks of allergies and asthma, both of which can be life-threatening.
It *probably* won't kill or permanently injure her, but why risk it?

Most pediatricians say six months...their digestive tract can't handle it before then. You will probably get advice to start cereal at three or four months. Don't do it! It causes irritability, constipation, or the runs.
Start slow also....a little cereal and then gradually work your way up to veggies and fruits, but only one at a time for seven days. That way, if there's an allergic reaction, you can pin point what caused it. When you know your baby isn't allergic to a certain food, then try something else for seven days until your baby has tried everything. Make sure your baby has a rainbow of colors in her diet. Also, start with veggies, after you have introduced cereal. If you start with fruits first your baby just could develop a sweeth tooth and not want veggies. Good Luck!

With my son I followed a strict schedule. I fed him every 4 hours. If he was getting hungry earlier I increased his amount of formula. At 4 mths or so your doc should give you the ok to start cereal. DO NOT PUT IT IN HER BOTTLE. Feed it to her on a spoon. When you start baby food start with veggies. Try a variety always giving her time between each one in case she has a reaction. Once you get into a good routine with veggies then try fruits the same way. If you go with fruits first she may not like veggies as well.(sweet taste) Also one more pointer even though you didn't ask. When my son started juice I never put it in his bottle, put it in a sippy cup. It will take some patients but she will get the hang of the cup especially after she tastes the juice. Plus this will help with bottle-cup transition. My son was off the bottle by 7 mths. Check out this site for a helpful feeding schedule.

i started giving my son solids when he was 4 months old. just make sure your daughter is still getting no more and no less than 32 ounces of formula a day. don't put the rice cereal in her bottle. i did that with my son and he got fat. most doctors will not recommend it. just give her a tiny bit of rice cereal to start, then start giving her a little bit of single ingrediant stage one or even two baby food. stage two is the same thing with the same consistancy of stage one, just alot cheaper. just be sure it is only one fruit or veggie, not a bunch mixed together. if it is too thick then add a bit of water to it. only give her about an ounce to start. don't expect her to make a meal of it. my son is ten months old and he eats a four ounce jar of baby food and a 6 or 8 ounce bottle on top of it. good luck and don't rush! if she doesn't seem interested put it away for a few days and try again. believe me now that my son eats solids about 2-3 times a day i long for the good ol days where i could just relax on the couch and give him a bottle, rather than standing there for 10 minutes trying to manuever a spoon into his mouth while he flings food around. enjoy this time while you can. it goes fast. i know, i know, everyone says that. because it's true. you will miss it. but also you will enjoy the times now and look foward to a wonderful future with your daughter. have fun with it!

I started feeding my little boy baby food when he was 5 and half months old, when he went in for his 4 months shots the doctor said I could have him on baby food.
As long as the bottle is filling her up I wouldn't worry about it, just when she starts acting like a bottle is doing much then I would go a head and start giving a little baby food.
Good Luck and congrats on first baby.

it is normally recommended to start weaning a baby on to solid food at around 31/2 - 4 months. Start cutting out the bottle feeds and replacing them with soft mushy foods like baby rice. Annabel Karmel wrote a really good book called "the baby and toddler meal planner" this showed all the foods you could give and at what ages. It even had ideas for recipes and schedules for meals etc..

I started feeding my babies real food off the table when they were that age; because I am old fashioned, I used to chew it up for them, then take small amounts from my mouth and put it into theirs. That sounds gross, but stop and think about it, they do a lot worse crawling around on the floors with God only knows what is there. And they seemed to eat it better when I chewed it for them. By the time they were a year old, they were eating off the table by themselves and no bottle.

I have a 6 month old. We started him (per the advice of our pediatrician) on cereal at 4 months old. He only had cereal until he was 5 months, then I introduced veggies and fruits. He's now on 3 meals per day... breakfast is cereal, lunch is a veggie and dinner is a fruit.
I'd consult with your ped to see when (s)he feels your baby is ready to start on solids.

That happened to my first one, he would want to eat all the time and I thought that he was not getting full. So I tried putting a spoonful of baby rice cereal in his bottle and that seemed to help. Good Luck!!

We started our son on cereal at 4 mo with our ped's blessing. He's been getting cereal right before bed for about 3 weeks and will have his 1st taste of veggies later this week.
