there are two part,s to kicking the cooling fan on,,one is the switch on the motor,,and the other is the fan relay,,also there is a fuse,,and a fuseable link,,but most of the time it is either the relay,,or the switch,,and all the switch does is go to ground mode when the engine get,s hot,,then it kick,s in the relay ,,and the relay turn,s on the fan,,9 times out of 10 it,s usually the little temperature switch on the engine that goes bad,,if your in doubt take it some where and have it checked,,it doesn't cost much,,but you,l have piece of mind,,knowing it is working right,,hope this help,s.

in case you comprehend the relay is nice, then the thermostat and fan are suspect. attempt to attempt the fan with some try leads to isolate the thermostat. Does the A/C seize kick in? be certain the a/c compressor and seize are operating inspite of the air temp. that is that your A/C is suitable to its personal fan. hence in the experience that your A/c compressor doesnt kick in, no fan both. would purely be a symptom of yet another difficulty. The fan is needed to interchange the nice and comfy temperature from the freon. Does the vehicle have 2 followers?

I have had many Cavaliers, and I think they program those cars ECM's to fail to turn the fan on. I have had to modify two Cavaliers to modify the fan. After spending $150 in shop costs for their diagnoses years ago, it all came down to hotwiring the fan.

Just one of those great mysteries. I would love to see someone post a better answer though.

umm....on my 95 camaro the fan supposedly kicks in at 227 degrees. but it usually comes in 155 or better...so its not on all that much..umm the cheapest/easiest thing would be just to call a Chevy dealership and ask them..then cross your fingers..but id take it to the dealership if all else fails
