I remember these - had some of the books myself as a kid. For some reason Primrose Yellow sticks out in my memory, and so does Royal Blue.

Just done some research on them, and it seems they were published without authors, but under the aegis of DC Thomson, the publishers.

They were later made into a cartoon series, with characters voiced by Jane Horrocks.

Maybe if it's really urgent tha tyou find out the answer, you could give DC Thomson a call - their contact details are in the final link.

i've just had a look on amazon, but can't seem to find anything matching that description sorry, only one i found was this
