If i get an audiobook from the library, can I copy it onto my computer so I can listen to it on my ipod? I would only really listen to it once anyway, but should I delete it afterwards? How legal is this?

This is for personal use only, and I know you can legally copy your own CDs for personal use.

It is illegal, because you do not own the first copy. Also, because the law is structured to protect libraries, the infringement liability is completely yours, with no one else to share the blame.
If you owned the first copy, you would be permitted to make reasonable copies for your own personal use. This is called "space-shifting" in the copyright cases, and it has been ok for many years.

as long as you don't intend to copy and sell the cd's it should'nt be a problem to use it for yourself. your computer usualy will come with a program that will copy the cd, but if the cd is copy protected then you won't be able to, but chances are it may not be copy protected, but the only way your going to know is copy it and if it is copy protected then the program will tell you that it is.
can I get best answer?

Not very legal! you might get away with it if you deleted it but you can only copy cd's that you have purchased, and only for your own use, and only a reasonable number of copies.

Books are copyrighted, whether they're in print or on a CD. You would be violating the copyright if you copied it, so yes, it's illegal.
That being said, it's only illegal if you get caught, and I didn't see a thing. :D
