In an animation studio in California, somewhere around Los Angeles Viacom/Paramount lots I believe.I seem to remember listening to the "Commentary Minis" on Seasons Two or Three, and the were complaining about how they were writing one episode, then having to drive over to another studio like 2 or 3 miles away on another lot to work in the other studio for Paramount on the Movie. They were upset with Paramount, because they werent cutting them any slack because they had to write the upcoming episodes for Comedy Central AND work on the Movie for the Summer Release, and the big wigs at Paramount wanted them to keep their work seperate, even though many of the same people who worked on the show worked on the movie.

Im pretty sure thats how it went down.... I know the first few DVDs were released by Time Warner/Warner Bros., and now the last few Seasons are all released by Paramount. Im sure there is a licensing snafu in there somewhere, I just dont know what it is. I know Viacom/Paramount owns Comedy Central now, and Im sure that has something to do with it.

But to answer your question.... The animation studios are in Los Angeles. In fact, an old child hood actor from "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" works on the show now as one of the animators on the show. Originally, they did it all by hand with cut outs of construction paper for the first episode.... "Cartman gets an Anal Probe" but now, its all done with Computers and scanners.

I hope this answers your questions. *s*
