First, if you have pain and inflammation (indicated by swelling, redness, and warmth) you need to utilize RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) and possibly see a doctor if it does not resolve.

Strengthening exercises:
Straight Leg Raises - Lie on you back and tighten the quadriceps (anterior thigh muscle). Raise leg 6-8 inches off the floor. Keep your knee straight.
Repeat leg raises while lying on the involved side (hip adduction) and on your stomach (hip extension). Initially you want to avoid hip abduction (lying on uninvolved side) because that may increase the strain on the LCL.

Other exercises:
Mini-squats or wall squats
Single Leg Stance (balance with knee slightly bent for 30 seconds)
Leg extensions and curls
Leg Press

It would be beneficial to actually visit a physical therapist to get a proper home exercise program, as I have only limited information about your condition.
