I love that name! I researched this for you somewhat and found that Sydonia is Italian and means from Sydonia. Also found out that it is a Latin name spelled Sidonia meaning from Sidonia and is from ancient Pheonicia. It also means to ensnare in Italian. I also found out that it is a very rare name in the United States and that there is a 102 year old woman in Australia with the name Sydonia. LOL Thankyou for asking such an interesting question.Love and luck to your daughter.

Sidonia or Sydonia...from the latin word meaning person from Sidon
The name also pertains to a town in southern Spain called Medina Sidonia
Medina Sidonia is a dukedom in Andalusia which was also founded by phoenicians coming from Sidon. It is in the province of Cadiz

The original or first Sidon is now the city of Beirut in Lebanon.

There is a saint by that name: SIDONIO APOLINAR who was the bishop of a town in France, and died in the year 489. This name is celebrated on august 23.

It's a variation of the French name Sidonie, which is the feminine form of Sidonius which is a Roman family name which meant "of Sidon" in Latin. Sidon was an ancient Phoenician city corresponding to modern-day Saida in Lebanon.

My Italian Friend Giuseppe say's it's definitely not Italian.
