Max Von Sydow played Jesus in The Greatest Story Ever Told in 1965.

He played the devil in Needful Things, based on the Stephen King book, in 1993. But he had actually already played the devil in A Soldier's Tale in 1984.

Coincidentally, he played the apostle Peter in 1985 in Quo Vadis and he was one of the exorcists in The Exorcist.

Can just think of two devils, don't know all their earlier work so they may have played Jesus before, humm.. either one seems quite a stretch and much easier to play the devil...

Was it Jack Nicholson (devil in Witchs of Eastwick) ?

Or maybe Al Pacino (devil in Devil's Advocate) ?

Just thought of one more, where I know this guy has played a bishop in later years, and a devil in earlier ones...

Tim Curry (Devil -actually son of, or something in Legends) ?

EDIT: the one story i am fairly sure Stephen included a definite Devil was the Stand, character Ronald Flagg, played by Jamey Sheridan in the 94 movie. But so far haven't found a Jesus corealtion.
Okay I'll put my thinking cap on, and hopefully i'll crack this nut!

Look out for an email, you have a very interesting profile page!

EDIT 2 , okay you practically handed it to us, would that actor be: Max Von Sydow ?

Maybe you're refering to "The Last Supper" by Da Vinci.

That's a painting.

As the story goes, Da Vinci found a young innocent boy and painted his face for Jesus. Years later when Da Vinci was almost finished he walked the streets and found the most evil looking man he could. Turned out to be the same boy he used for Jesus.
