Well, first you should know what kind of stuff that he likes. Get him a cd of his favorite band, or a book by an author that he likes or a movie, or a video game. It should be simple enough to find a gift if you know his interests.

Gift certificate to a music, video or book store. Nothing big, $15 to $25 is perfect.
Oh & bring a small hostess/host gift. Small bouquet of flowers for his mother would be excellent, if party is given by his parents.

buy him something funny at Spencers or something... like handcuffs or condoms that are very very small... make a joke of it... unless he is the uptight christian type... then you might want to go with a more casual gift like something for his car or a simple gift card at best buy or something
