Where is the proof?
Science and medicine can show many links to disease and cancers. They can show it exacerbates many conditiond but proof? Not so far.
Like guns and knives can cause death and still be sold legally so can cigarettes.
Chemists/druggists who sell pills don't kill people. The ones who take overdoses commit suicide. Therefore, if smoking causes death the the manufacturer is not guilty but the smoker commits suicide.
Any smoker now must know the risks they are taking therefore if they attempt to sue the manufacturer they must first show that they themselves are mentally incompetent!

This is a perfect question, but it's impossible to make things look better, because the cigarette companies do not care about people if they smoke or hate smoke, because the only thing important to them is money, to earn money and the government usually leaves the opportunity to the people to decide about themselves if they want to smoke or not, otherwise think about all that money that goes into the state's budget from cigarette taxes!

Because that's what America's about, freedom. Everyone knows that cigarettes can cause health problems and even death. If smoking is so important that they will risk their health and lives, than let them. If I were a smoker I wouldn't want anyone telling me what to do.

There are many things that can lead to your death. Climbing, skiing and even driving. Part of the definition of being a free individual is to have the choice. Should the government keep us in a bubble drinking vitamin fortified gew? I say, live life with passion and try a few things along the way in moderation. Acurate drug eductaion is very welcome. Propaganda is not welcome because many drug users have looked into the issue, have experienced it and see through it with contempt. Thankyou for the choice.

I guess the same question can be asked of alcohol. Anything used in excess can lead to death.. Know the risks and chose your path accordingly.

If you want to go to extremes...why sell aspirins, they destroy your liver if you take enough of them. Why sell liquor in any form as that too pickles your liver. Why sell ice cream or whole milk or red meat when if eaten in mass quantities can clog your arteries and lead to heart disease.
The crux of this is that we are aware of the dangers in anything we buy. It is up to us to make the choice, not the government.

Listen to the news, just about everything will lead to your death. POTATO chips will lead to your death. Do you eat them? Why do they still sell them.

Because if all of the legal workers in the factories were fired, the economy would plummet. Just telling it how it is...I'm not saying I agree or anything.
