About 2 weeks ago, I was outside the post office and an elderly woman had trouble moving some boxes. Seeing her struggle I ask her if she would like some help and then took 3 of the boxes, held open the door for her and from there, set it on the "reference table" in the post office. I got a thank you and a memory that will live forever.

Another incident was when I was sitting in the rest stop center of the mall, waiting for my family to get out of one of the stores nearby, when an elderly man had trouble getting down the few stairs into the seats. I took his arm and gradually lead him down the stairs. He gave me a smile and a thank you and it really made me want to cry.

If I hadn't done that I would feel guilty for so long. Sometimes when I could have done something and didn't, it really sticks with me, and I feel so guilty. So just help someone, doesn't matter whom, and make yourself as well as others happy.

Signed up with the National Marrow Donor Program.

* Each year more than 35,000 children and adults in the United States are diagnosed with diseases for which a marrow or blood cell transplant could be a cure.

* A transplant requires matching tissue types between patient and donor.

* These patients and their physicians can turn to the NMDP for help with the search for a match and for support through every step of the transplant journey.

The other day, when I went up to get my coffee in a drive through, I told the lady that I also wanted to pay for the order for the car behind me... this happened to me once where I was the receiver and I never forgot it - very nice thing to do - and surprising!!
