Interesting question. This issue (the casualness of electronic communication) came up in a discussion with an attorney this past week, and her opinion was that emails and other forms of electronic communication are stream-of-thought communication, similar to informal verbal discussion.
Most of us don't take the time to speak properly, and this type of bad habit caries into our emails, etc.
And honestly, how frequently does one hear improper grammar today, even on the television or radio, particularly in and spontaneous discussion, such as talk shows, sporting events etc.!

Maybe people are just making honest mistakes. I for one get so tired of being so serious all the time. I'm serious at work, at school, at home, while driving, even while thinking. Sometimes it's nice to take a little break from being proper and formal and just throw the rule book out the window. Maybe those people feel Yahoo Answers is their only opportunity to do that.

A lot of people cant respond to a question in a serious manner because they are to lazy to type out the words, they like for people to stare at what they typed for 5 minutes trying to figure out what ttyl, roflao, ect... is. LOL.

Bad manners or it could be that they have been sucked into the cyber talk. I think it is so stupid. I can't under stand answers when I get them because of it.
