Why did Randy Bachman always abandon ship just when his bands got successful?

They still perform with a couple of Randy's brothers, along with Fred Turner & Blair Thornton. Randy & Burton tour as The Bachman Cummings Band, or just Bachman Cummings. Jim Kale owns the rights to the Guess Who name and tours with a would-be version along with Gary Petersen.

Several years ago BTO had a reunion tour, (which I went to) and at the last minute Randy Bachman bailed to do a Guess Who reunion tour. I don't know who the replacement guitarist was but he was dynamite. A year later The Guess Who wanted to do another tour and Bachman reported he was interested in doing a BTO tour. According to BTO that was not the case. So there you have it, Randy Bachman abandons two ships instead of one.

last i saw of r. bachman, he was with guess who again. i saw them in a bar in atlanta right before their first album came out. there were three bachmans and a turner. it seems they changed members alot
