Goose usually attack other ducks for food. But this time it attacked the ducks for nothing. What unusual is that this time it chose baby ducks instead of adult ducks around to attack.

Sounds like the natural aggression of the goose combined with a special hatred for ducks.

I wouldn't do anything to the dog, nor would I be so silly as to think there were 'sides' to take. I would do whatever is necessary to protect the baby, but that's not the same as taking sides. Mostly I would use common sense. And common sense is to never leave a pet alone with a baby. If it really came to the point where baby and dog could not safely coexist in the same house, I would find a good child-free home for the dog. After all it's not like getting rid of the baby is an option, and I would still consider myself responsible for the well-being of the animal I took into my home.

If baby ducks are about then baby geese will also be about. Most birds and most mammals will be very aggresive if they see any other creature near their young.

I have watched with amusement, recently, adult Ducks carefully avoiding young Coots, and the adult Coot relentlessly chasing any Duck it sees come within a Metre or so of it's young.

For those of you who don't know an adult Duck is almost twice the size of an adult Coot.

Yes it is , The goose saw the ducks as a competer for natural resources ( fish , crayfish, and nesting areas ) and tried to elimenate the compitition.

yes, Geese can be pretty mean. They'll attack just about anything when it gets in their territory.
