Tap it on your teeth- if it feels smooth, its fake and if it feels gritty, its real.

Are you talking about jewelry or the ZZ Top pearl necklace? I can't tell if you are being funny or for real.

If you are being real: large (a relative term! How large is large?) pearls are often fake. Have them appraised by a reputable jeweler.

someone told me that if you take pearls and rub them against your front teeth real pearls feel smooth and fake pearls are rougher

I don't know. How much did you pay. If you think the deal is too good to be true, they aren't real. Take them to a jeweler, they can tell you for sure.

If you bite it and see if anything comes off it's fake. Or it's the other way around??? You could just see a jeweler who will check it for free!!!!
