I want to use the feature with my router that allows me to deny specific MAC Addresses. I'm in an apartment complex and there are a few people who connect to my router which causes me problems with signal drop outs. I cant secure it or make it so only the MAC Addresses that I list are allowed, because it doesnt let me use my wireless gaming adaptor with it, so I want to block specific MAD Addresses, If anyone know how I can find the MAC Address of the other machines connecting to me, that'd be great.

Thanks

Your router should have a screen that tells you who is connected and their mac address. or you can use your computer to ping the broadcast address of you lan and then use arp to see who answered.

The router's ive used have a setup/configuration utility that usually lists the MAC addresses of all those connected to your router.

Your router should probably be able to see the MAC addresses too in its configuration screen.

Refer to your router manual for more specific info on how to access your configuration / setup screen and view / block the mac addresses.

download and install myWIFIzone internet blocker from www.mywifizone.com

if you were'nt successfully configured your MAC address filtering, then this freeware will surely give you a lesser headache. after installing myWIFIzone internet blocker version 3, there's a whitelist there where you can enter all the allowed MAC addresses of other laptop units of your choice. either you choose to filter both with IP addresses or just the allowed MAC addresses, then restart your wireless router and start this application everytime you start your wireless connection, and it will surely rid almost all of the freeloaders in your wireless network.

good luck, this worked for me, and it helped me out greatly.

P.S. you have to enter your wireless router MAC address also in the whitelist. you will then be prompted by this application everytime there's an unknown MAC address connecting in your wireless network. just make sure you recognize all the pc or laptop or router MAC addresses that will connect thru your network.

it's my guess that aluminum will block the signal. try it. if it does, you can limit the direction in which it works. other than that, do you need it on all the time? if not, shut it off except when you're using it. if it's off most of the time, whoever's using it will get tired of not having a connection. edit: for twein, can you set the router to only respond to a specific id? and the system to use that id? that would fix the problem. and be helpful to quite a number of folks.

if you get network magic (www.networkmagic.com), you can see the mac address for any one connected to your network by clicking on them and going to details. this is also a free program. hope it helps!
