i've been on ortho for 5 years. i lost track of the date last week and didn't get my prescription filled until after my period ended. normally i'd just double up on the pills until i'm back on schedule, but i'm worried because i've had such a high sex drive these past two days. i've heard that when you're ovulating, you crave sex, so i'm concerned that i could be fertile right now. should i get the morning after pill?

OK, this might be confusing, but, most ovulation occurs on the 13th, 14th, and 15th, days after the start of your period.. If you menstruate regularly then you are most likely in this category. There are signs of ovulation that most are not aware of and one of them is cervical mucous, it resembles egg white and is very stretchy when placed between 2 fingers and separated... You should be concerned if you are within this time frame and have missed doses.. Otherwise, double up as usual. If you double up more than 2 time in one month, you should use protection and start again the following month. Hope this helps. To let you know, the pill is 99% effective when used correctly and the information provided in previous answers is incorrect. Abstainance is the only 100% effective method, meaning genital contact is non-existent. The morning after pill prevents the fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus, take that how ever you need to, but yes, it is already fertlized.. All I ask is that you do your research and that you take accurate information. There is no problem in doubling up on pill, no more than 2 times in 1 month, according to all medical research. Just know the risks of all birth control.

Any time you have sex EVEN WITH protection, you can get pregnant. Meet: the baby girl in my pic! Glad I had her, shes a blessing, but a result of the pill. Looking for something more effective, try the Nuva Ring

First of all, you shouldn't "double up" on pills- ever! That could cause an overdose and screw your body up. It only takes one skipped day of the pill to get pregnant. Also, just so you know, the morning after pill is technically abortion.
