Your query is not quiet correct....Shouldn't you be asking if the person known as Santa Claus was real?
The actual person Santa Claus is a compilation of different etymologies; probably alteration of Dutch Sinterklaas, from Middle Dutch Sinterclaes, St. Nicholas : sint, saint (from Middle Dutch, from Old French saint; see saint ) + heer, lord .
The modern day Santa Claus is the spirit of Christmas and normally represented by a jolly, old, heavy set man with a long white beard and dressed in red and white.
He is what you wish him to be....so is Santa Claus a real person; truly that is up to you......to me YES, he is everything that I wish Christmas could be....almost a throw-back to generations gone by with a youthful innocence.

Santa Claus is real indeed. I have personally seem him many times over the years. Back in 1783 he didnt have the same amount of gear and attire he has today though. And he had no beard.

Yeah, he is!
I see him all the time when I go to Santa Claus, Indiana. Holiday World/Splashin Safari entrance, follow the path down to his workshop, and it is located on the right in the gift shop.
I have pictures of him with my kids and grandchildren on his lap!!
