For the last months when i try to use my pc an error shows up saying "umountable_boot_volume" and windows has shut down. Im not really a pro so i have no clue what to do. on the bottom of the screen it says "stop:0x000000ED,(0x80E47C00, 0xc0000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). im not sure if this error is caused by a malfunctioning drive because the pc has a double layer disc and the bottom 1 will not open.

The status of your computer is know as Blue Screen of Death acro as BSD, this usually occurs if you have installed any new software or hardware that is either not compatible with your computer or is having driver conflict, so here is what you can do:

1. Restart the computer
2. on the black screen before windows load start tapping F8 key and you will get Windows Advanced option screen select Safe Mode from there and press enter.
3. Now look for the new harware that you have installed or the software which you have installed recently remove it.
4. Go to Start >> All Programs >> Acessories >> System Tool >> Check Disk.
5. Run a through disk check for all the hard drive partation and check for the bad sectors or data corruption.
6. Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved or not.

Let me know the status I might be able to help if that does not work at: nukecity83@yahoo.com

Ok, the first thing you should do is reboot the machine in Safe Mode (hit F8 while the machine is booting. A screen should appear asking how you want Windows to boot. Choose Safe Mode). While in Safe Mode, use the Disk Error Checking Tool (Known as ScanDisk in Windows 98) on your primary hard drive. You can access the tool by clicking "My Computer" then right clicking your primary hard drive and selecting "Properties". A menu will appear. Click the tab that says "Tools" and a dialog box with several options will appear. Click the Error Checking tool (it may take a while to finish depending on the size of your hard drive).

If there are no errors, run your antivirus software in Safe Mode.

If there are no viruses, you may want to consider doing a System Restore.

If that doesn't work (or if you get the same Blue Screen Of Death), try using the Automated System Recovery tool found on your Windows XP installation disc.

Also, check this link out: http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/disc/faq/winxp_boot_volume.html

It has some more information about this particular error.

You can download Ccleaner here : http://bit.ly/1t3jm44

To start with open Ccleaner

To make this concise, beneath is my suggested setup:

Under web pilgrim check provisional web documents, treats, and last download area. Most clients don't generally require this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a possibly, however you would prefer not to lose bookmarked locales.

Run Ccleaner and it will begin erasing documents.

a while later it will give you an arrangement of the documents erased, you truly don't have to experience it as it will be a few pages long.

The registry cleaner is proposed for marginally more praiseworthy clients. Use it in the wake of uninstalling projects as they will regularly abandon erroneous registry sections.

In the event that you choose to run Registry cleaner then audit the things identified and constantly move down the registry (I keep an envelope aside for this)

The Tools tab gives you a chance to uninstall projects and set startup programs. Why do you require this if Windows has these peculiarities? Particularly with Vista Home Ed. The windows safeguard programming wayfarer( startup programs) doesn't get a few sections (however programming adventurer is less demanding to utilize).

Utilizing Ccleaner to uninstall projects and after that check for remaining registry passages takes less time.

Under Options you can decide how Ccleaner cleans your records. I allow this to sit unbothered.

I'm seeing BLUE SCREEN as a virus. For me the only fix was to erase the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. You might check your BIOS for something called EXECUTE DISABLE.Take the computer back to the store that you purchased it from with the paper work.It might still be under warranty.$250 for some file in the way.

well there's some thing wrong with your hard drive which contains windows. you're going to have to reinstall windows, which would delete the virus/error which is causing this.
