You bet, both Firefox and Opera beat IE all to hell. I'm using Firefox right now.

There are plenty of outstanding alternative browsers other than Internet Explorer; however, to determine if they're better or not you'll have to try them out!

The most popular alternative browser to Internet Explorer is Mozilla Firefox, a free open source browser based on the Gecko rendering engine. It is probably the most customizable browser due to it's "Extensions" system that allows users to download various features that are not included by default or to extend current features. Some of these features include weather applets, extensive downloads management, RSS readers, Session recovery (opens up pages that were open when Firefox was closed or crashed). It also has a wide variety of installable themes to customize the look of your browser. Another good point about Firefox is that it works on nearly an graphical operating system, including Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, *BSD, SkyOS, etc.

Another browser is Opera, which more resembles an Internet Suite, and includes some of the same features as the default Firefox, including Tabbed browsing. It includes a built in email client along with an IRC chat client and support for RSS feeds. It was originally commercial but has recently been released as a completely free browser. This is probably the most popular alternative browser after Mozilla Firefox.

There are a few others that may be worth checking out, including Seamonkey, a continuation of the Mozilla Suite, but doesn't quite compare to Opera as an Internet Suite, but it may be worth keeping watch on it.

Firefox is, in my oppinion, superior to Internet Explorer in every way. It's faster, safer, easier to use... But the one aspect that wins me over again and again are the add-ons. There are thousands! Adblock Plus - block ads - flash ads, banner ads, etc. and save the bandwidth and the cookie hassles that these would have created. Download Statusbar - puts your downloads at the bottom of your screen instead of an irritating pop-up. FoxyTunes - control your music player without leaving Firefox. Noscript - increase your security by only allowing JavaScript when it's needed! CookieSafe - increase your privacy by only allowing cookies when they're needed! AJAX Yahoo! Mail - open and read 1 to 10 to 20 e-mails all on one page. All in all, the web's a lot easier and more fun in Firefox.
