Deciding to have kids is sometimes not a choice, sometimes it's unplanned. When you do plan to have a child then I believe the child has a better chance to succeed in the world.
Raising a child to become a productive mentally healthy member of society should be one reason why people have them. Not so much for the ego satisfaction of creating something made from "your genes", but the satisfaction knowing that something that two people created can add so much to the world around us to make it better. That person will be an individual among many people and the trick to raising a child successfully is giving them every opportunity to be exposed to all sides of the human experience and not sheltering them too much.
That's what I think.

Well if we weren't created to have children, then we certainly would have been created without the ability to have them.
Think about it this way, if it were only needed as a survival of the species kind of way, whomever created us would just keep creating more.
Or if you believe in evolution theories, why evolve to re create, just keep evolving into new and better things, no reproduction neccessary. This argument is the essence of why evolution is only a theory.
We have children because we were created to have them, only a man and a woman can come together and produce a child.
The command was to go forth, be fruitful and multiply, not add, subtract and divide.

i have kids because as a woman, i have this motherhood desire in me, to raise a small thing into such a beautiful man/woman from the inside. i am doing my kids a favor by giving them the chance to go through life to learn and enjoy and live. i grew up from nothing and i liked what i became tht i think it's only fair to give others tht chance. i dnt know about you, but i enjoyed the tears and laughter tht i went through and i want my kids to try the same thing. maybe it is part of human learning, tht we should nt repeat the others' mistakes (i.e. parents mistakes) and to be better than our own parents. i cant see a reason why NOT to have kids really.

I am not thinking of the survival of the species or having kids to make my life better. The reason I want kids is bacuse i like kids and i want my own. My husband and I would like a child simply bacause we want to take care of one to see it grow up and be able it live on its own. Why question that.

Well they can provide you with help and money when they get older. Parents take care of children, then the children take care of the parents. The more kids, the more chance of a kid being smart and being rich or famous. It also helps with a lot of other things later on in life.

You can opt out of nature and not have kids if you wish. Nothing is stopping you except yourself. However, the future generation will have fewer genes and memes from you.. which means future people won't share the same tendency to opt out.
Which explains why everyone is so driven to mate and have kids... because we are all descended from the people of the past who were most driven to.

1. we do not create them GOD does, he is the only one who can take nothing and make something. 2. i had children because i felt i had a lot of love, knowledge, understanding and ( i hope) grace to help this pitiful world grow where it should. if you feel you should not have any children then by all means please don't poison ours with your negativity. 3. if you think we have kids to make OUR lives better, have you really looked into and talked with a young family. it is by no means "better". there is never enough time, energy, money, patience. but with love and the Lord on our side we do the best we can. i didn't have my kids for me I had them for God.

I have friends who do not have kids, and they actually feel left out. And are tired of hearing from others on when are they actually going to have them . I had my son very young so I decided that I did not want anymore. I just enjoy thinking of when my son is 19 I will be 35. Hopefully he will be out of the house. But for some reason I dont think he will be................................
